Yes I read it long ago and liked it; I also read and liked the sequel which is written by a different author. I remember it also being good.

Yes the follow up author tried to join up the robot stories with the foundation stories and involved some kind of time travel or time displacement. i need to read all the books again.

David Wismer | 2 comments I am a bit late to this discussion but Wikipedia has done a great job of compiling all that was written of and around Asimov's Foundation.

7 in total by Asimov and 8 or so by others. A good reading order is up for debate. I suggest Foundation, Foundation and Empire, Second Foundation to start then the two prequels and then the three sequels.

Thanks this list is awesome. Does it make sense to read I Robot first, do you think?

David Wismer | 2 comments Some do suggest reading I Robot first. In my mind the Foundation series was a better read the first time around without all of the 3 laws and robot stuff overlaid at the beginning. Once I knew the story, going back and reading it a second time allowed me to see details and connections I had missed the first time. The second time through though was not as immersive.
