Mystery/Thriller Reading Friends discussion

Bosch: Legacy. Harry is a retired private detective now, and Maddie is in the police academy. Airing on Amazon. First 4 episodes are available on Amazon TV. Picks up where Bosch left off. I haven’t watched it yet.

I'm looking forward to watching this. It will be on the newly named FreeVee, an Amazon service and I believe starts streaming on May 13.

Thanks for the tip. I just finished the Bosch series and can't wait to start Legacy. I assume FreeVee is....... free? Have not heard of that.

I've watched the first two episodes, so far. I'm a big fan of the Bosch series so I hope this series is as good.

One does have to get used to the updates. Harry is no longer a Vietnam tunnel rat, but an Iraq war special forces vet.

I've been a little perplexed by the series although I love the actors. How is Honey Chandler still alive? She was murdered in the previous series.

Love the books but am not crazy about the TV series. Like Ellin, i was confused when dead characters came back to life. Eleanor Wish is my example.

I understand, but how is that possible unless it's a prequel or a flashback?

Could be zombies. However, in the case of the original Bosch Amazon series, the seasons went through books generally in timeline order - so some characters are there in the beginning, alive and well, just like in the books; then met their untimely end in an episode as the TV seasons progressed.
No one to my knowledge reappeared alive after their demise. Perhaps there were a few flashbacks here and there as back story along the way referencing previous episodes, and one character was grievously wounded - but they survived in the original series - and is in the Bosch Legacy series too.
The above references the TV series only, not specifics from the books.

I just did a Google search to find out how they explain Eleanor Wish's resurrection in "Legacy" and could find nothing. Could her appearances be flashbacks? I guess I'll have to watch and see.

you know how I forget stuff..lol.. but I think eleanor was alive in the book the series was based on, wasn't she? the show is based on The Wrong Side of Goodbye and I'm pretty sure she was alive in those books. maybe we hadn't even met her..lol

Didn't Eleanor Wish die in Hong Gong? I don't remember which book that was.

Carol, lots of spoilers in this thread for the Bosch tv world.

However to clarify, having not watched all of Legacy Bosch I can’t 100% confirm, but I have seen no sign of Eleanor Wish in the first three episodes. (And no sign that she will appear)
She appeared in the original series as she had in the books, no sleight of hand or resurrections: alive, then assassinated, then mourned.
The character that appeared to have died in the first Bosch had in fact survived and is in Legacy, recovering- which seemed to have caused much of this confusion.

Now totally confused, will have to watch the series myself. Spoiler to book and original TV series: (view spoiler)[ My understanding was Maddie is a cop now so this is a sequel to the original series and the books published to date. So not sure how Eleanor Wish can be alive, recovering or not, right? Maybe they reinvented that storyline and forgot to tell anybody? (hide spoiler)]

Carol, a different character, not Eleanor Wish is in Legacy! And yes, Maddie is a cop now in Legacy.

OK. I've watched all of season 1. It started out a little rough (exposition anyone?) but definitely hit its stride. Acting of course is excellent.
