Sounds like a worthy Nordic trip.On an “exotic weaponry” thread in our lounge section, regularly updated by J., you might find rare stuff unavailable in other collections
I recommend going to a range, taking a course, and getting some personal experience with firearms. There are a lot of aural and tactile sensations which if described well can add a lot of flavor to a book. If they are described poorly or incorrectly, gun guys will walk away from a book.

I travel to all my locations as well. It's just normally in my head while I stare at Google Earth! :-). Awesome you got to do all of those! I was in the military and have traveled some but really want to do it a LOT more! For weapons I recommend having a dad and a brother who were Marines then turned into SWAT guys and DEA types. Nothing like a room full of weapons to pick from to go sit in a deer stand somewhere.

St. Petersburg, Berlin, Stockholm, Helsinki and Tallin Estonia. To to feel to get the feel of the culture there. Weaponry, I looked them up online and had really good book that I found called the Writers's guide to weapons was also helpful for me because I had never fired guns.
