I enjoyed Vicky Bliss books as much as Amelia Peabody books.
You may want to try some Elizabeth Peters standalone books such as Legend in Green Velvet by Elizabeth Peters Legend in Green Velvet or even her Barbara Michaels books though last I checked few of those are in audio.

Lauren (laurenjberman) The Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter is coming to an end with the final book in the series in September. It has been a few years since I last read an installment (#11) so I have some catching up to do before book #15. To this end, I just did a reread of the books #1-11 and remember why I adore this series.

Anyhoo, I am now listening to book #12 Dark Queen (Jane Yellowrock, #12) by Faith Hunter and as always, it starts with a bang!
