Desperate for well crafted thriller without absurd "twist" ending that makes me want to set the book on fire

Just lost another 5 hours of my life to "Behind Her Eyes." Like 90% of the hyped up thrillers out there, it had me hooked all the way until the ridiculous twist ending which in this case involved paranormal dream travel. Are you effing kidding me?
Desperately looking for a great, BELIEVABLE, twist ending in the vein of "Defending Jacob" or "We Need to Talk About Kevin."

I liked this one, but if you don't like an unrealistic twist, for God's sake, stay away from The House Across the Lake. The first half of this book was so good, and then BOOM! Dumbest twist ever.
I completely agree! I would have given the book 5/5 if not for this. I've experienced lucid dreaming myself but this was something else!
100% amazing book until the twist. Same with cabin across the lake, had its absolute claws in me and then lost me w the paranormal aspect.
Agree completely! Haven't read the two books you mentioned, but can definitely recommend The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley and The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. Really enjoyed both of them!

I completely agree with your comments about Behind Her Eyes. I read it and had it been a physical book I would have pitched it out the door. Lately I have read a series of domestic thrillers that really deliver surprise endings that do not rely upon supernatural intervention.
I really liked The Perfect Marriage (Jeneva Rose) and Mary Kubica's release this year Just The Nicest Couple. It appears that authors are going to First Person POV these days and are experimenting with its gimmicky potential in various ways, like adding doubling down with more than one First Person Narrator, and also adding time jumps from flashbacks to present.
I hope these ideas may resonate with you. I get especially riled when the books steps outside of whatever genre under which it is marketed.
