Hi i am Paul i am new here. I am looking for pulp novels, in the style of a lone hero or group of soldiers, that is set in ww1, ww2 or any historical battles. That read like a action/adventure novel. I am really into Indiana Jone’s i like stuff like that, a lone hero fighting nazi protecting historical artifacts. So anything pulp war related that read’s like an action adventure. An example of a book i like is The Rat Bastards by Len Levinson. So stuff like that if that helps. But please leave recommendation’s based on the description. I hope its ok to post this here.

Have you read Alistair MacLean? The Guns of Navarone is a classic, has a good movie adaptation. 'Where Eagles Dare' and 'South by Java Head' are other well known thrillers by him.
Douglas Reeman wrote similar novels based on naval warfare, submarines and ships
I would remark that these are war novels/adventures, but not really similar to Indiana Jones.

You should try Philip Kerr's books he wrote a series of books following a Berlin Detective Bernie Gunther that is really very good Start out with Berlin Noir and take it from there

Its 1942 and four veterans from the Guadalcanal campaign get discharged because of wounds and become private eyes.
Definitely Kerr. Not to be fussy with labels, but he’s a clear cut above “pulp,” imho, more depth and complexity to Gunther than typical copper / investigator.
Anyone remember Scottish novelist who writes series about murders in post ww1 Scotland. The first one, with a deranged vet perp, is chilling, I thought. The protag is a vet, too, think. Not much help sorry. Failing memory.
In the category action adventure Indiana Jones ww1-2 i could recommend captain W.E Johns "Biggles"series, Andre Fernez "Nick Jordan" series, Henri Vernes "Bob Morane" series. Aimed at a younger audience, but enjoyable nonetheless
Hi Paul, I'm new too. I can recommend two WW2 novels:
- Tramp in Armor, by Colin Forbes
- Hurricanes of the 40 Days, by Harold Calin
These are action/adventures. They're both a little dark, taking place during the defeat of France in 1940. I think they qualify as pulp. I bought them at the drug store for 50-60 cents when I was a kid (many decades ago) and now they're dark brown, so they must be!
Cheers
