Buddy Read- The Exorcist's House by Nick Roberts- Aug 15, 2022
I am so looking forward to this book! It seems everyone is talking about it and I am even seeing it over in the Books of Horror facebook group. It is popping up a lot over there.
The author posted today on Facebook that the audiobook is in its final edit and should be available soon. Hopefully very soon!
I've seen people saying they read it in 1-2 sittings and got super creeped out which is all my ears want to hear!

Finished Chapter 1 (8% in). There sure are some fraught undercurrents beneath Nora and Daniels relationship.Onto the farm...
(Now I'm off the beginning I'll add spoilers ...)
Almost at 50% mark and what I really like about this book, other than the scary shtufff is how well fleshed out and realistic/even annoying lol, the characters are. By the time the author throws them into the blender and hits the on switch you are in absolute terror about their fate. Love that.

I love the characters in this one. The creeped out horror is perfect pace with how the characters are feeling - the haunted atmosphere just keeps you in state of intense terror and makes you become invested in the story to keep reading to find out what happens next.

Very different from the usual house stories with stuff happening. I can see how some people say this can be read in one sitting. Well if you have time haha.
17% in.(view spoiler)
Lots of 'shiver,' moments going on. It's the lurking unknown malignant horror vibe...

No - we didn't get it. You will need to explain it, Professor. 😍

Merle Blatty was the old exorcist, we get his last name from his 'helper,' Luke. Then there is The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty 😉
There be nuggets and homages, I think...

In the summer of 1994, psychologist Daniel Hill buys a rustic farmhouse nestled in the rolling hills of West Virginia.
Along with his wife, Nora, and their teenage daughter, Alice, the family uproots their lives in Ohio and moves south. At first, they are seduced by the natural beauty of the farm and enjoy the bonding experience of fixing the old house, but that all changes when they discover a hidden room in the basement with a well, boarded shut and adorned with crucifixes.
Local legends about the previous owner’s predilection for performing exorcisms come to light, but by then, all Hell has broken loose.
