It depends on what you mean. The stream-of-consciousness narration could be hard for some to follow, but it's not verbose and pretty readable, relatively speaking.

What one might find hard to get through are the graphic scenes of violence and sex. It depends on what your grading curve is for disturbing content, but I'll just say that, if there was a film that depicted everything in this book, it would definitely go past an X rating.

I couldn't finish it. I told myself I was going to take a break by reading something else and I just never went back.

If you've gotten half way through and you can't handle it, you will only dislike the second half more, partially because it is so graphic, and partially because it is so boring.

Of course the subjects the author examines are difficult ones to read. I loved the author's way of writing the slang and vernacular of the story's characters. It was unconventional, but it enhanced the reading experience for me.
