I nominate Ada Ferrer's Cuba: An American History. It's a 560-page winner of a Pulitzer Prize for History (2022). Ferrer was born in Cuba and raised in the US, and is a Professor of History and Latin American and Caribbean Studies at NYU. (The second review in the review feed is a robust 1* review that by implication flags whether this book will appeal.) (Cuba) I can lead.

Though she makes intriguing points, I get the sense that she overlooked a mightily indicative aspect of this book... the title.

I want to nominate Hurricane Child by Kacen Callender who "is Black, queer, trans, and uses they/them and he/him pronouns." Is this allowed?

Hi Jamie,
The criteria states: "1. Book must be by a female author (transwomen and women using male pseudonyms are women)," and we have had non-binary author nominations before.
Just let me know if this is your nomination, the country or territory, and whether you'd be willing to lead if your nomination wins, please.
Polls are open through august 29. Please vote here:https://www.goodreads.com/poll/list/1...
Jamie, I never heard back from you but I can still add your book, just let me know if you'd like me to.
Hej Anita! I'd volunteer to lead the discussion for Hurricane Child by Kacen Callender! it's not my suggestion but if you haven't heard from Jamie, I'd be more than happy to lead that discussion!
