No, no explanation. I quite enjoyed it, but there wasn't much in the way of scifi. And the novel wraps up quite satisfactorily, so you can stop at one (unlike The Hyperion, for example).

I've finished it, and it's great: seeing that the other books seem to have more sci-fi in them, I might actually look further into this series.




So does the author try to give any materialistic explanations to all the magicky things in the book? (I see that's it's the first one in a series and wonder if it's the 'Buy more of "Maze Runner" now!' story all over again.)
