Edward depended on marriage to Phoebe to get access to Justin's inheritance. I'm sure he promised his father all the benefits of the title. My guess is Edward also made big promises to his mistress. When he realized Sebastian wouldn't convince Phoebe that he was the better man, he decided to kill his competition. Edward was hoping if West weren't around, Phoebe would marry him.
I really think that Edward was a tad deranged. He has taken anything he wanted and when he couldn't have Phoebe, he just couldn't accept that he wasn't going to get what he wanted this time.
I think Edward realized that if he couldn't have Phoebe, he would lose not only Justin's inheritance, but probably his mistress and his son since he built her a big house he couldn't pay for. He thought if he could get rid of West, he may be able to persuade Phoebe to take him back. "Deranged" is a good description, Anita.
I agree "deranged" says it all. I didn't think about Edward losing his mistress because he couldn't pay for that big house.
I’m with Anita, too😏 I cracked up when I saw “deranged” because it describes that fool perfectly.
