Very intense book. I let my grandkids destroy my house while I read. Detective Mendez - what was her problem? I hope Kane stops putting himself in such danger.
It was great to see everyone come together to help Sean and Lucy.
I can’t remember the last time I listened to a book of this length in one day. Intense is an understatement!
Anita, Mendez needed to be reprimanded in the moment and pulled from the case. She was unprofessional. Banner was barking up the wrong tree and ignoring evidence but he was doing his job. This woman was burned bad sometime in her past and Sean triggered something.
I gave Kane a pass because he recognized the trap and was digging for info. But I take your point.
The Kincaids & Rogans rose to the occasion. They were outstanding.

I agree that Mendez probably had a bad experience sometime, I just wish it had been revealed. It would only have taken a sentence or two to explain that. I kept wondering if she had a personal beef with Sean over something.
Loved, loved, loved this story. I was getting so nervous when Sean was suddenly being transferred to Beaumont. I kept thinking that someone has to stop this.I was mad at Kane for letting himself get kidnapped. Too many things could have gone wrong.
I'm looking forward to how the San Antonio office gets back to normal in the future. Will Rachel be sent packing? (Hope so) Will Nate and/or Lucy move on? Will we someday run into Houston PD Detective Mendez and learn what her problem was?
All great plot points, Robin😏
It was when they began transferring Sean to Beaumont that I could no longer put the book down!

I was so frustrated that no one would listen to Lucy. She kept insisting that all of these things were tied to the release of Elise Hunt from juvenile detention. But everyone would just shrug their shoulders or pat her on the back. Ugh!!!
I think Lucy and Brad were the only ones who knew how truly evil Elise was. Everyone else just gave her a pass because she was so young and played everyone.I hope Brad recovers and doesn't quit like the other agent the Hunts held captive the last time.
There has to be another book - too many loose ends. If the publisher wanted to be done with the series, they could have at least let he write a transition book.
I hope this isn't the end of Brad in the series too.The author may have paused the series in order to work on the Regan Merrit books. I certainly hope she comes back to Lucy and Sean soon.
She’s also writing Frankie Elkin, too.
Tia Mancini was on her side, too, but Banner wouldn’t listen to her.
