Scar | 2 comments I picked this book up back in 2007 or 2008 at the Christian summer camp Timber-lee in Wisconsin. It was paperback, written in English, and I think the cover picture was a landscape of a dusty, rusty-orange planet. I was only 10 or 11 at the time that I read it, and it was at a camp for kids, so I believe it was written for a YA audience, but the main character was an adult and there was some weird romantic tension so I'm not certain.

The main character was a woman who either studied or taught evolution in modern America. She had some kind of conference coming up, but under mysterious circumstances found herself on an alien planet, trapped with a population of highly evolved animal people. I believe some of the animal people wanted to just eat her, but one of them (who I think had the characteristics of a big cat) stood up for/protected her.

SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT ON

The book really emphasized how weak and useless she was in this alien society where 'only the physically strong survive'. At the end of the book, she woke up from her dream and had some kind of vision of the cat-man who saved her. He basically told her "If evolution was real, people would all have big claws and fangs and tough hides. Why would evolution pick a weak fleshy form? God designed humans."

Then she woke back up to the real world and met the cat-man, but he was a normal looking person in the real world. The book kind of does a *wink wink nudge nudge* to suggest that he remembers her from the alien world, so maybe the author was trying to suggests that he was an angel and that alien dream was his way of guiding her away from evolution.

I apologize for all the vagueness, I only read the book once 15 years ago so a lot of the details are very fuzzy.

Scar, I notice your request is in a Solved folder. Is your book Logic's End: A Novel about the Origin of Life in the Universe by Keith A. Robinson - Rainbowheart's suggestion?
