Road trip to the beach = finished audiobook!I understand why they would choose to ban this one from school libraries with conversations of sexual acts and abuse.
I loved that book! It's so important, and so well handled IMO. We considered it last year for a state award list (I'm on the committee) but decided that the content might he too graphic or triggering for classroom read alouds. But it was a hotly debated title in our meetings.
I read Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe (a graphic novel being pulled all over right now), and it was 6 of 5 stars for me. And has minimal actual sexual content. I would give it to teens and up for sure (it was published for adults). It's a great coming of age story of the author figuring out eir own gender identity and really helped me (as a cisgender person) understand that journey. I'll probably end up buying it for my bookshelf.
This one is on my TBR. Christina wrote: "I have already chosen to read “All Boys Aren’t Blue” by George M. Johnson."
Great choice!Katherine wrote: "I listened to The Handmaid's Tale. 👍"

I bought this one last winter when it was banned in Meigs County. It is a very important book in my opinion.John wrote: "I read "Maus: A Survivors Tale" by Art Spiegelman"
I absolutely loved this book on audiobook. The whole series is fabulous. Brynn wrote: "I read the Giver. I read it a long time ago but I forgot how good it was!"
I read Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe. I found Maia's journey fascinating and it helped me learn so much.
