Hi! I'm Alina, a bookworm from Germany. This will be my 6th year of participating in Victober and I'm very excited for it, as always :)
Hello. I am Russell and this is my first year. Huge fan of Victorian novels. I keep changing my favorite one, but currently it's either Bleak house and The women in white. But that could change after Victober. :-)
'Ello! My name is Josiah, but my close friends commonly call me Dickens. Can you guess who my favorite author is??? I've been mildly obsses- I mean, fascinated by Dickens and his works since I was ten. Slowly working through all of his works. So this is, surprisingly, my very first Victober.
I'm Anki, and I'm from New Hampshire. This is my third or fourth year participating in Victober, and I'm looking forward to reading with everyone!
Hi! I'm Zoë and this is my 3rd Victober. I absolutely can't wait! I'm a teenager from the UK and my favourite classics include wuthering heights, Jane Eyre, P&P and A Welsh Witch by Allen Raine. Highly recommend all of them for those who haven't already read them! I've not been the most motivated to read classics recently so I'm hoping reading with everyone and taking part in this will help! I will be sharing my victober progress on my blog if anyone is interested - zbestbooks.blogspot.comCan't wait to get into the Victorian books!
Hey, everyone! My name is Paula, a Brazilian bookworm. I gonna read Tess of the D’Ubervilles (Thomas Hardy), Little Dorrit (Charles Dickens) and Middlemarch (George Eliot). I’m so excited for this Victober 🤗
Cristina from Lisboa in Portugal. I think this is my 4th Victober and it’s my favourite literary event of the year.
I still don’t know what I’m going to read except for the Prime Minister by Anthony Trollope because I’m reading the Palliser series, having just finished Phineas Redux (1 book every 2 months).
Hey, this is Maxine from the Philippines! This is my 2nd Victober, and I am super excited after watching the Announcement, that I might start Victober early!!!
Hey, I'm Cemre and I'm from Istanbul. This is my first Victober so I am very excited. I can't say I'm a bookworm yet but I definitely aspire to become one due to my love for books and especially for classics! I haven't decided what I'm going to read for Victober so I'm open for suggestions!
Hello - I'm Melissa from Chicago. This is my first Victober, and looking forward to finally reading Jane Eyre. It's been on my TBR for way too long. I'm interested in seeing what everyone has planned for the month.
Hello, I'm Rebecca. This is my first time participating in Victober. I enjoy Victorian Literature but haven't read much of it lately. This looked like a fun way to get back into reading more Victorian Literature. I enjoy Dickens, and some of the poets. I've yet to read a book by Thomas Hardy that I can say I've enjoyed, but maybe this year a book by him will change my mind. I'll probably read a Dickens novel, some Elizabeth Gaskell, and or a novel by George Elliot. It depends on what I get to in September.
I’m Alex from Victoria, Australia. This is my second Victober. Last year I managed five books but was interrupted by illness so this year I hope to last the whole month and read a lot more! I’ve been looking forward to it all year, trying to guess the prompts and what I might read for them.
Hi everyone! I'm Chris from London in the UK - this is my first Victober, though I was an interested observer last year. My familiarity with Victorian literature is slight, though I can say that I love Trollope's novels and have a less positive relationship with Dickens ...
Hi everyone! I'm from Italy and this is my second Victober. Still not sure what my tbr is going to be, but I'm very excited, nonetheless. I'm a huge fan of the Brontë sisters, so maybe I thought I'd use this opportunity to broaden my Victorian horizons, getting to know better different authors, probably Dickens or Gaskell.
Hello! I’m Lu and I live in the southern part of the USA. This is my 4th or 5th time participating in Victober and I’m excited to dive into some new (to me) reads! 📚
Hello! I’m Penny and this is my third year participating in Victober. This year looking to read some Victorian poets.
Hello,My name is Thaizi Ono and I am from Brazil.
My interest from Victorian Literature began a long time ago, it was a film adaptation of Great Expectations from Charles Dickens.
It was the 1998 movie directed by Alfonso Cuarón.
For this Victober, I will take Petra's challenge - Read a Victorian book and watch a screen adaptation of it.
I will read Time Machine by H.G. Wells and watch the 2002 movie adaptation.
Hi, I'm Linda and I live in Luxembourg. I enjoy reading 19th century English literature and other classics and I am excited about my very first Victober. I have just modified my TBR list for October to be able to participate in some of the challenges at least.
Hi everyone, this is my second Victober and I'm excited to join in. Never heard the word 'Bildungsroman', so thank you Katie! It's great there are so many hosts this year and appreciate their videos with recommendations :-)
Hello, I am Sandybeth from Shropshire and this is my 3rd or 4th Victober. I love that it encourages me to seek out new works and read books that have been on my shelves for years. I am taking a frugal aproach this year and my Victober will cost me £3.49. I will also continue with the ‘reading a book by candlelight’ that was a challenge a few years ago. I enjoyed it so much that I will do that with my short story choice.
Hello! I'm Zizz, originally from the US but living in rural Ireland for the past 8 1/2 years. I'm new to Victober and Goodreads, although I've seen some Victober videos on youtube. I'll be deciding on my TBR soon--so many excellent possibilities :-)
Hi everyone, I’m Darryl from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. This is my first Victober, but I’m thrilled to be here! I’m currently reading Master Humphrey’s Clock in its entirety. I’m through the delightful short stories that make up the first several weekly instalments, and am now nearly half finished The Old Curiosity Shop. I’m hoping to finish it by the end of the month, so that my “official” Victober read will be Barnaby Rudge (Kate’s challenge). There is a production of it from 1960 which I will watch if I can get my hands on it somehow (!), which would also satisfy Petra’s challenge.
Hi, I'm Hazel and this is my first time in Victober. I am hoping to read a book for each challenge and the read along. That's the goal. We'll see if I can manage it. I was interested to see (when I looked up "Olive") that the author also wrote "The Little Lame Prince". This was in our cottage growing up so I'm sure I read it almost every summer. This is another recommendation for the chronic illness or disability challenge.
Hello my name is Mike and I live in the state of Iowa, USA. This is my first Victober but not my first foray into Victorian literature. I have an uncomfortably large stack of proposed books picked out for next month, all of which will be new to me. Looking forward to read through everyone’s adventures!!
Hi, everyone! I am María, from Spain, and this is my third Victober. As per usual, I won't even try to do the challenges and instead focuse on one book from my long-term TBR. This year it is Vanity Fair's chance, 20 years after I bought it!! Wish us luck! XD
Hello. My name is Mary and I live in California. This is my first Victober. I am reading the group read, The Mayor of Casterbridge. I also plan to watch the dramatization of the novel starring the wonderful Ciaran Hinds. Thank you for organizing this event.
Hi everyone! My name is Theresa and I live in New York. This is going to be my third time participating in Victober, and I hope to be more active within the group & over on my bookish instagram as well throughout. Last years discovered favorite was Wilkie Collins The Woman in White. I can't wait to see what new favorites I find thanks to Victober, as I always walk away with some.
Hello! I am Theresa from Illinois and I have participated in some way since the beginning. The first year I was hesitant because I had not read much Victorian before. I watched all the video's and even picked books that might interest me and added them to my TBR but never actually read them. The next couple of years I read one a year. and last year I fully got into it and it was so wonderful that I will never quit even if the group no longer existed. I have been planning for this year since the end of last year.
Theresa from NY, have you read The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins? I loved it. It’s funny, great characters, and of course, a mystery.
This is my first year so I’m not sure how the group works. Is there a challenge or challenges set by moderators or other members? Are there group reads? I see a few people have posted their TBR and Challenge and there’s mention of group reads.

Also are listed each challenge at the top of all the pages. The group read is The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy.
Hello! I’m Paula from the UK - living in Cumbria. I took part in last year’s Victober and it got me dusting off some books that had sat on my bookshelves for years. This year I intend reading books I have not got round to reading before.
Hey! My name is Estelle, my love for classics and the 19th century started out during the pandemic because these were the only ones accessible for me as I cannot go out to buy nor borrow a book. I would want to join this year to encounter new books and catch up with my reading challenge bc I am very much falling behind. I am running a channel called "Estelle's Chrysalis", a combination of studytube and booktube and I'll probably talk about this next time. I hope everyone would have a nice victober reading month, and thank you to the coordinators!
I see. So each of the moderators set challenges for themselves and any members that want to join them. Thanks!
Hi, my name is Sara from México, this is my first victober, and i want to read (in spanish) something by Gaskell, Austen, Charlotte Bronte and Dickens.I´m so happy to join you this month of reading classics
Hi, I’m Carmen from Washington, USA. This is my first Victober and I’m so excited! I hope to complete all the challenges.
Hello all, My name is Freya and I think this is my fourth Victober. I won't have much time to read for it this year but I plan to read Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell for Katie's prompt. I have a few Victorian books on my TBR so I hope I can get to another one of those too.
Hello everyone🙋♀️I am Janice from Scotland.
This is my first year joining Victober.
Plan to join in the group read 'The Mayor of Casterbridge'
Looking forward to it!
Thank you you for organising this!
Hi, I'm Lana and this is my 4th Victober. This is the first readathon I ever participated in and it remains my favourite to this day. Big thanks to all the hosts, happy to see a few new ones. :)
Hello, I'm Jennie from Ontario, Canada. I think this is my 4th Victober. My previous attempts have not gone as well as hoped, but I do manage to do a bit better each year, so I can't be too disappointed. I've been thinking about my TBR since July and am so excited about the prompts!
Hi hi! I’m Kriselle from Canada. This is my first Victober, I’m excited to join in the fun! My pace with older Classics tends to be slow, so I’m not sure whether I’ll get through all the prompts or the group read. However, I’m determined to finish at least 2 prompts, as poetry will be easy to check off.
Thank you for hosting this event!
Hello everyone. I'm Ros and a new Victober host this year but I have enjoyed taking part for the past few years as I love Victorian literature with a passion. I live in Sussex in the UK and I am delighted to read here about all the different places people come from here. It is lovely to think of Victorian writers being read around the world this October.
Hi, I’m Janell and I live in Tennessee in the US. I’ve been following Victober on Booktube for many years and loosely participating, but this is my first time participating in the Goodreads group. I love Victorian lit and classics in general. Thanks to the hosts!
Hi, I'm Anastasia. This is my first Victober and I'm really looking forward to it! I plan to read one main novel as well as smaller reads - a novella, at least one short story and quite a few poems. I've decided to focus a little bit more on poems this year, having been inspired by the video that Ros has made 🤗
