Thom Brannan | 95 comments Joshua Reynolds has been tearing it up.

I made my acquaintance with him and his work while we were both under the umbrella of Emby Press. His first two novels about the Royal Occultist (The Whitechapel Demon and The Jade Suit of Death) were right up my alley, and might be up yours, too. That sounded suggestive.

Recently, he's had some success with the Arkham Horror line. His was the first entry (Wrath of N'kai) and he's got another one coming soon.

He also writes in the Black Library (Warhammer 40k) in the same genre, more or less, just in a vastly different setting. He's a good sort.

Dan | 1580 comments Your Joshua Reynolds link is to the 18th century one. Here's the author I am sure you meant: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... Three spaces are needed between the "Joshua" and the "Reynolds" to reach our weird author hero.

I think he goes more by Josh Reynolds, and he is indeed as you say tearing it up. First novel was Dracula Lives! (2010) and he's written another twenty or more novels since then!

Dan | 1580 comments I would say thank you for turning me on to Josh Reynolds' work, but I don't know if it's any good yet. Anyhow, that Dracula Lives! is just $10 on Amazon. I don't look for vampire novels, and all things being equal, even tend to try to avoid them. Biting on the neck to suck blood bothers me on a visceral level--I can't stand to have my neck touched--and never did acquiesce to teenage hickeys. So I don't like to read about it either.

But some vampire stories are just too good to ignore. I bought it and should have the novel by Wednesday. It probably goes on my TBR pile, but this one has me curious because so few people have read or reviewed it. I might move it up to a high spot on that pile.

Thom Brannan | 95 comments Yeah, this is why we think our first books are problematic, because our first books are problematic, Especially if we're indies, because there's nobody with a chair and a whip, wrangling these books into saleable shape. ha

I'd like to see Simon & Schuster's chair and whip budget, now.
