Jennifer Hutchinson | 86 comments I want Sign Here, Thistlefoot, The Family Game, Hester, Jacqueline in Paris, AND As Long As The Lemon Tree Grows! ahhhhh I don't know which ones, I refuse to start a new account, I used to have two and that's how I ended up with this many tbrs. So I have to narrow it to at least three, I'd prefer two since I've banned myself from add ons, and that's obviously not going so well lol

message 3: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 1973 comments there's an addtional add-on Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young

message 4: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 1973 comments lol I ended up with a 2nd account when someone gave me a gift of 6 months and I'd just renewed my 12 months. . .

I got lucky and had 2 picks as arcs
The Family Game by Catherine Steadman
My review: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...

Hester by Laurie Lico Albanese
My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I loved them both!

so I got:
Sign Here by Claudia Lux Thistlefoot by GennaRose Nethercott As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katouh Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young

Ops
I was looking at the app on the phone and it's a little different than the web site. Thanks for the heads up, I'll add it.

message 6: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 714 comments I haven't placed my order yet, but I think I'll be ordering:

I know right? they hid this one a little this time. I had to direct my book club where to find it to add to their boxes. I wonder why they put those other shelves between them. . .

OOOH there is also The Kiss Curse (The Ex Hex, #2) by Erin Sterling added this month but it already sold out

message 8: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (nancyepark) I was going to get Spells for Forgetting, which was in my box, since yesterday afternoon, along with a month’s pick. When I went in this morning to buy my box, Spells For Forgetting was removed. It’s now sold out. This is the 2nd time this has happened.

I’m very disappointed, particularly when I am a member for 2 years, paying a monthly fee, a one-time annual fee, and paying for books. It was in my box for less than 24 hours. I understand, now, it is a popular book, however, there has to be a better solution. Possibly giving members 24or 48 hours to consider a book before releasing it. Or notifying the member it will be removed, due to its popularity, and to buy it by “X” time.

I have been using Libby lately for audiobooks, so I’ve suspended my account for now. Friends, I look forward to seeing what books are coming up on BOTM, in Athena future.

message 9: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 1973 comments Awe, I'm so sorry that happened, Nancy. How frustrating. You might share your feedback with BOTM because it would be good for them to know why someone is putting their account on hold.

message 10: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Hutchinson | 86 comments I hate when the book I want sells out. It's especially upsetting when it just disappears from the site too, I always took that to mean it wouldn't be restocked but I've actually caught some that came back. I'm using the app and I know it can be glitchy sometimes so maybe it's not ever really gone, just showing up weird, Lies I Tell and It Girl both disappeared and came back recently for me.

message 11: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Hutchinson | 86 comments Books selling out is what makes me want to stuff my box sometimes too. Like this month, I'd be fine getting 2 and then slowing adding the others to future boxes but I'm trying to figure out which will sell out first instead of just getting the ones I want to read this month.

message 12: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (nancyepark) Hi Trish,

Thanks! I did share my concerns and suggestion with customer service, when I put my account on hold. She was very understanding and said she’d tell the supervisors. I put it on hold on Libby, but I’m going to listen to the audiobook on Audible, where I have a credit. I’m going to do it closer to Halloween! 🎃

message 13: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Hutchinson | 86 comments Ok, narrowed mine down and ordered

The Family Game by Catherine Steadman

and

Sign Here by Claudia Lux

I'm worried that Hester will sell out but the other two fit my reading needs better so 🤞🏻I can get it next month

I hope you love them!! I know, it's so hard to narrow down the picks!

message 15: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 74 comments It was so hard to choose this month with so many good picks! I decided on: Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young Hester by Laurie Lico Albanese As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katouh

message 16: by Elsa (last edited Oct 03, 2022 08:13AM) (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 714 comments I ended up getting

Sign Here by Claudia Lux Hester by Laurie Lico Albanese Jacqueline in Paris by Ann Mah in one box and

The Family Game by Catherine Steadman The Kiss Curse (The Ex Hex, #2) by Erin Sterling As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katouh (I should have gotten Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young instead)

Wonder if I can change it....

message 17: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 714 comments I called and I was able to change the order but the one I wanted was already sold out and no plans on getting more... boooo
So I ended up getting the same three.

Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young is sold out and they don't have any plans on ordering more. ugh!

message 18: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 1973 comments oh man, this is a really rough month for them! BOTM is really struggling to have enough books for their reader base. I wonder if they've gotten too big. . . I also wonder what their solution is. . .

message 19: by Jessica (new)

Jessica I got Thistlefoot, I love Baba Yaga folklore so I hope this is good!

BOTM sent me an email for a survey for yesterdays call. So I told them I was disappointed that the book I wanted was already sold out and the month it became available was just beginning! I also told them that Ines was very helpful and nice.

message 21: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey Gandhi (lindseygandhi) | 81 comments I got Hester. I ordered mine fast because they have been selling out on books. One month the book I wanted sold out before i ordered, but a few months later they had it back in stock. That's disappointing they aren't going to order more. I almost added on her book, I loved Fable. I've noticed they aren't doing as many add-ons as they used to.

message 22: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 714 comments Saw that as well, Lindsey.

Are we going to have to find a mother book club to order books from? The ones I've looked into are super high.

message 23: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Hutchinson | 86 comments I've been looking for other book clubs that are not crazy pricing and not ones where you don't get to pick for years! I've not found one yet, except for that aardvark one that everyone is talking about. I haven't signed up for it or anything but I have heard chatter about it and it seems like people are happy with it so far.

BOTM selling out of books is very annoying, especially when it happens in the first week, and especially when they never come back. you would think that they could at least have another print run but I don't know. I've also had instances where a book I wanted sold out before I could order it and then disappeared making me think that it was gone forever and then all of a sudden a month or so later it's back again. That happened to me with The It Girl and another one that I can't remember at the same time most recently. They know how large their customer base is so you would think that they could at least order appropriately based off of that. I used to work in purchasing and it's basically just a big math problem, I was purchasing chemicals for batteries not books (jealous!) but I do know that it's basically the same principles as far as corporate purchasing goes.

I've ordered from Aardvark. I'll keep you posted :)

message 25: by Elsa (last edited Oct 28, 2022 10:16AM) (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 714 comments I'm downloading the app. It's taking its sweet time. I've also looked on their web site but does not mention the number of books offered every month.

Trisha do you know off the top of your head how many books they offer for one to choose from every month?

message 26: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 1973 comments they just started (October was their first month) and they had 4 selections. Rumor has it, November will have 5. They give hints every few days so we can try to guess what the books will be! It's fun so far but they are still really new.

I've received my Aardvark for the month and they look really good. I've read 2 of the 4 selections and am starting the 3rd. I plan to order from them again in November!

message 27: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Hutchinson | 86 comments Trisha, which ones did you get and have read so far? I've just taken a look and honestly all of the October books look really good. I'm going to check out Novembers books when they get released but I'll probably sign up too if the picks are this good every month.

message 28: by Trisha, lives on coffee (last edited Oct 28, 2022 01:42PM) (new)

Trisha | 1973 comments I've read The Night Ship by Jess Kidd (got it as an arc but they still sent me a free copy!) & The Marsh Queen by Virginia Hartman
and I'm getting ready to start The House in the Orchard by Elizabeth Brooks

hopefully next week I'll get to Ithaca!

message 29: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Hutchinson | 86 comments Ithaca was the best looking one I think, I'll probably end up joining, ugh I want to but I can already feel the hurt my tbr will feel when I start adding books at an even faster pace lolol

message 30: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 1973 comments OMG the push to try not to get behind again (I'm almost 40 books behind in BOTM) is real!! Lol We need a group for Aardvark so we can track our reads and buddy read them!

message 31: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion (ecarrion) | 714 comments Wow October was their fist month, that is crazy, to be part of the company when it first opens, I might just grab a book this month before it over so I can say I was one of the first ones! LOL
