Adaliah walked into the Notus cabin with Lya after breakfast. Nemo couldn't join them, as he was working on a project with his siblings. "Nice cabin." She told Lya, who was standing beside her.
"Thanks," Lya muttered, her attention elsewhere. She sat on her bed with her back facing Liah and picked up a framed portrait of a woman with her head thrown back in laughter, red hair wild, and a man who wasn't smiling, but his gold eyes sparkled with amusement. The only photo she had of her parents together. She quickly tucked it inside a drawer and slammed it shut.
Liah noticed Lyana's attention elsewhere. She made her way to her and sat down on the bed, next to her. "You good?" She asked in a gentle voice. "This whole day you've been acting a bit odd."
Lya stared at the drawer where the portrait lay hidden. She turned to Liah. "Can I tell you something?" She had never told anyone about this before, but Liah was different. Lya supposed that Nemo and Liah were her first friends.
"Of course, you can," Liah answered softly. "We're friends now, aren't we? I'm always here for you and Nemo!" The word 'friends' didn't seem to roll off her tongue naturally. Possibly since she never had any friends since she was 5, and Nemo and Liah surprisingly accepted her as one, despite being the daughter of the 'creepy ghost-like ruler of the dead'.
Lya nodded. "Yeah." She slowly opened the drawer and even more slowly took the picture of the woman and man and handed it to Liah. "My parents," she mumbled.
Liah looked at the picture Lya handed her. It showed a red-haired woman laughing and a tall man with golden eyes like Lyana's. "They seem so happy in this picture. And, I assume that," She pointed to the man next to Lya's mother. "is Notus, god of the south wind." Even though Liah was holding a picture, the god's persona radiated power.
((I don't mean to be rude or anything, but are you still on? I have to go in a few hours, so I can't stay for long 😅))
"Yeah, this is when they were... together. Before- before..." her voice cracked. "Before he left. And then my mom told me about demigods. I was only six. I was packing to leave when... when a monster attacked. My mom died but I escaped." She turned away, trying to hide the tears in her eyes.
((Sorry, I was eating breakfast!))
((Sorry, I was eating breakfast!))
Adaliah saw Lya's golden eyes broken like a thousand pieces of shattered glass. "I-I'm sorry, I can't imagine how that must feel..." Lie. Her conscious scolded her. She did, in fact, know how it felt, but talking about her own problems would be selfish, right now. She noticed Lyana turning away as a few tears fell from her eyes. Schist, she's crying! What do I do? What do I do? She reached over to the nightstand and handed her a couple of tissues. "Um, if you'd want to talk to your mother, I could always, you know, summon her as a ghost." She offered, awkwardly.
((Np, it's fine!))
((Np, it's fine!))
((Thanks! And I love the simile at the beginning! :D!))
Lya wiped her eyes and looked at Liah. "Y-you could do that?" She trembled, hearing her mother's screams over and over again.

((Aww, thanks! I love your writing style, too! The screams are reminding me of Lily Potter's death for some reason XD))
Adaliah nodded slowly. "Yeah, after all, I am a daughter of Hades. Though, I'd need some food to sacrifice as offerings." She groped inside her dark hoodie's pockets and found a couple of Kit Kat bars and M&M packets. "Should be good enough for a small chat."

((Lol me too and thanks))
Lya took a deep breath and stood up. "Thank you for doing this."
Lya took a deep breath and stood up. "Thank you for doing this."
The corners of Liah's mouth tugged into a small smile. "Least I can do for you." She muttered, scratching the back of her neck.
Liah and Lyana both arrived at a desolate field that was located on the Camp's borders. Hardly anyone ever came here, and that's why Adaliah loved it. She summoned a couple of skeletons to dig into the ground. When the hole was big enough, she snapped her fingers, sending them back to the Underworld. "Okay," She mumbled. "I haven't done this, in a long time, so here we go."
She took out a few cans of Pepsi which she'd brought from the Dionysus cabin, opened them and poured them into the grave. She closed her eyes and breathed in deeply. "Let the dead taste again." She chanted in a monotone voice. "Let them rise and take this offering." "Let them remember." Then, she took out the candy bars from their wrappers and shoved them down along with the M&Ms. She started chanting again - only this time it was in Ancient Greek. White fog started to encircle them, and the sky got a lot darker, even though it was only past noon. The grave started to froth and bubble with brown Pepsi. The mist thickened. The grass around them started to decay. Several outlines of blue and grey started to appear around the tomb, vaguely human-shaped. A bead of sweat trickled down Adaliah's forehead. Now, came the hard part: controlling the dead.

((Not me having to pull up that one chapter in BotL when Nico summoned the dead, to understand how the summoning worked XD))
Lya scooched back on the bed, half afraid, half excited for what would happen, and afraid that her mom wouldn't recognize her.
((lol XD))
((lol XD))
((Umm.. we're outside on the far edge of the Camp borders, since the summoning needs to take place outside... and I kinda doubt that there'd be a bed outside 😅))
Adaliah quickly shot a glance toward Lya, to make sure she was alright. She nodded to herself as she turned towards the ghosts, whose outlines were getting clearer by the second, and twisted her obsidian-black ring, revealing lepida skias. (aka shadow blade {pretty basic name, ik, but the others were too long XD}) As the other ghosts - who were definitely not Lyana's mom - began to drink from the grave, she raised her sword and took a couple of steps forward. "Stop." She spoke in a commanding voice, one which was very much unlike hers. "Only Lyana's mom, er, Mrs. Auster, may drink." She forgot to ask Lya her mom's name, but the ghosts seemed to take the hint and dissolved back underground. Liah fended off a couple of very nosy ghosts who didn't want to mind their own businesses, until one ghoul, unlike the others, appeared. She was quite tall, and even though she was all-blue and transparent, Liah could've sworn she could see the woman's fiery red hair shimmering through. The woman stopped to accept the offering, then floated towards Adaliah. "Thank you for the offering, dear," She spoke in a kindly manner that reminded Liah much of her own mother. "It's been a while since I've had a proper one." Adaliah nodded, her shy attitude returning. "I-I'm Adaliah Spinner, daughter of Hades. Nice to meet you, ma'am. There's someone who wanted to see you for quite some time." Liah turned her head to Lya, queuing her to have her long-awaited reunion. "I'll just... make sure that no other ghosts have tried to sneak out from the Underworld." Liah left Lya alone with her mother, she didn't want to interfere and cause them to feel awkward. Plus, she was fairly sure that a couple of pirates from medieval times had indeed tried to escape into the world of the living, and she definitely did not need them to find out that the movie: Pirates of the Caribbean existed.

((lol pirates of the caribbean XD))
Lya took a step forward, her hand out as if to touch her mom. It trembled, then she put it down, remembering she couldn't touch her anymore. "Mom..."

"I miss you so much," Lya said, tears dropping from her eyes. "You should've told me about demigods. The hellhound..." Her fists clenched.
Her mother sighed. "I know, I know," She spoke softly. "I was just afraid to expose you to this cruel world so early on. You had so much of your childhood to enjoy. So much to explore and love. I didn't want you to be caught up in the gods' messes, but look where we are now." She sighed.
"It's okay... I still love you," Lya said. She turned away, wiping the tears off her face. Before now, Lya hadn't realized how much she resembled her mom. They were both tall and red-haired, although her mom had hazel eyes. Lya had almost forgotten how her mom looked, but after this, she would remember forever.

"I love you too, Lya..." Her brave facade wore off and silvery beads trickled down her cheeks. "Even though I'm in Elysium, I miss you every single day. No one ever comes to visit, not even your f-father, and I just can't stand leaving you here!" She was full-on sobbing now, years of pain and anguish leaving her with her tears.
"Mom. Hey, it's okay. I bet Dad can't come because it's Hades's realm, not his. And I'm safe at camp. I even have friends. I still love you," Lya said.
Her lips spread out into a smile as she whispered: "That's my girl. You've grown up so much..." She reached out to hug Lya, but her hand begun to disolve into nothingness.
"Mom?" Lya said, confused. She watched her mom start to dissolve. "I love you so much!" she said tearfully. The last thing her mom gave her was a smile before she was gone. Lya stared in shock at the place where her mom was last.

Adaliah noticed the atmosphere changing from dark and gloomy to a normal afternoon, as it was before. She noticed Lyana tearing up. That must mean that their meeting time must've been up. Liah watched Lya wipe her tears, before realizing that she was crying herself. Goddammit! Emotions! She tried to stop them from falling, but her breath hitched in her throat, causing more of them to flow. She didn't want to seem so self-centered, but Lya's mom awfully reminded her of her own mother. Her mother had made her life heaven by just being with her. That was until her father interfered, and her whole life had come crashing down. She would never forgive Hades for taking her mother away. Never. Even if it meant falling into freaking Tartarus. She absolutely hated the fact that she was related to him. She wiped her tears, but her eyes gone all red and puffy. Too late! Lyana was walking over to her.
Lya sighed. "Thank you for the visit," she said, nervously twisting her hands. She wiped away what was left of her tears. "It meant a lot to me." She took a deep breath, then gave Liah a hug.
Liah's body stiffened with shock as she received the hug. This was her first genuine hug in, what, six, seven years? She couldn't hold her sobs in anymore and let her emotions get the best of her.
Lya didn't let go, letting a few tears of her own leak out. She looked Liah straight in the eyes and said, "You're a great friend."
"I'm glad we found each other," Lya said, before gently letting go. "Come on, we're gonna miss breakfast."
((Omg Adaliah is just like Nico she's so dam cute in that way lol. And jeez Annabeth! What are you? Writing a super detailed book? I'd totally read this tho btw XD))

((Aww ty Lynn! You and Ava are so sweet, istg! I have so much fun rping with y'all <3 ... and yeah I kinda wanted Adaliah to resemble Nico because after all, she is his sister XD
But, I also want to give Adaliah a softer, emotional side. She, unlike Neeks, openly accepts friendships after being traumatized. That is, of course, until their quest 😈 *cue evil laughter* I'mma emotionally (and perhaps, physically) scar Adaliah Spinner for LIFE! :D))
