Hi everyone, Welcome to the Verne Family :) I am in Australia so we will see how that plays out with timing of completion posts etc.
Do we want a Team Name? Some suggestions below:Shelf Indulgence
One Of A Kindle
Feeling Shelf-ish
A Novel Bunch
Marmaladies
Bemused Bibliophiles
Hello, fellow teammates. ^_^ For team names, I'd suggest Women of Letters, but I'm not sure if any of you guys are Supernatural fans.
Hi Team! Nice to meet you all! I’ll be the scorekeeper it looks like. I’ll reserve a spot below so the scores will be easily found towards the top of our thread.I am fine with any of the team names. I have seen Supernatural, VampAmber!
How many hours ahead are you, Loriidae?

I just asked Lanelle, and she would like the Captain's report first thing Monday morning. I am 13 hours ahead of Central Time, but I am happy to work with that, so if books are posted by 11.59 Sunday night CST, I will have plenty of time to do the Captain's report ,
What timezones are people in please? will that idea work for everyone?
I'm EST, off in little nowhere, Ohio. -_- But my sleep schedule is all over the place, so I can pretty much do any kind of timetable. And I lied, there's nothing even remotely resembling an actual schedule. ^_^
I am Central time zone. I will likely have my book done early. I usually can’t sleep 1 or 2 nights a week and make sure to use it to my advantage! 🙂
Excellent, I am the only odd ball, so you all fit into finishing your book by midnight Sunday your time, which will be Monday afternoon for me. That will work perfectly as I often hike Monday mornings. I can do the Captain's report then. Thanks everyone.
Week 1's survey has been posted in the Survey Says thread. Have fun deciding which answer might score the highest points.
Family members can read for the same answer.

Week 1 SurveyName a kind of hat.
Baseball - read a book with an author's name that has double letters (Sally, Emmett, Briggs, Woolf)
Beret - read a book with a 5 word title (includes articles)
Cowboy/Stetson - read a book where the main character rides a horse
Derby - read a book within 24 hours (the Kentucky Derby is fast!)
Easter Bonnet - read a book set during the springtime
Fedora - read a book by a male author
Panama - read a book with the word "canal" in the text of the book
Straw - read a book where the mc spends a lot of time outdoors
Top - read the first book of a series
So I have never really watched the tv show. Is the idea of the game to pick the most popular for the most points or the least popular for the most points?

I got a good feeling about the cowboy hat, but I need to find a book for it. Or maybe pick a book is more accurate, since between the library, ebooks, and my own collection I have thousands to choose from. ^_^Edit: I have both In the Hand of the Goddess and Legends & Lattes out from the library at the moment, and I'm sure at least one of them has a main character riding a horse.
Cowboy/Stetson - read a book where the main character rides a horse
I forgot about strategy. LOL For some reason I was thinking the points were done randomly. But that was probably something I read for another challenge. I just picked the easiest task for me this week. I’ll think more about it next week!
This is the sample posted on the Q&A thread:Sha wrote: "How does scoring work? One point per book?"
Lanelle answered:
I will use the number the answer scored on the survey. To use the sample survey:
Name something specific that might make a blind date not go very well.
Answers:
Nothing in Common - 22
Body Odor - 18
Male shorter than Female - 14
Arrives Late - 13
Car Trouble/Accident - 8
Personality Clash - 8
Sloppy Attire - 7
Bad Breath - 4
Date is a Bore - 2
Ugly Date/Bad Looking - 2
If you read for 'Arrives Late', you would earn 13 points for your family.
I've tried to make the reading prompts equally hard/easy, but certain ones will appeal to a certain person more than others.
Loriidae - I changed my book and task since Lanelle says we can change our minds. I chose a potentially more popular answer. 🙂

Very happy it’s the start of my weekend! My husband and I will go on a road trip to see the Fall colors. It’s my favorite time of year. 🍁I’m also impatiently waiting for our next survey! 🙂

You must read 1 book a week to participate in this challenge.
At the end of 6 weeks, the family with the most points wins.
Each Saturday morning, a survey will be posted. By Sunday night, each family member must declare (make a Selection Post) which answer they will read a book for. Family members can read for the same answer.
You cannot begin reading your book until Monday morning (12:01 a.m., your time).
You have until the following Sunday night (11:59 p.m., your time) to complete your book and report it on your family's thread.
The answers' points will be revealed each Tuesday morning.
