Fantasy Book Club discussion

Hello, I'm all prepared to read the Eye of the World next month with this group, and since I've never read any WoT books I feel I should ask here... Do I read New Spring (the prequel book) first? Or is it something that could be read at any point?

The series should be read in the order of publication.

I feel you can read it at any point.. I read it when it came out, but it is just as readable before you start the rest..

I strongly suggest read the series in publication order: the prequel has some spoilers.

Not only does it have minor spoilers, but it also won't be very interesting if you read it first - it's basically an "origin story" of one of the characters, so it needs to be read once you're familiar with the character in order to be really interesting.
