Classic book club discussion

Hey guys its been a while and the month is coming to an end and I wanted to know where are we at with Orlando??

After reading Orlando, I’m still not convinced that I enjoy reading Woolf. I think that if I were to read this again, I would have a completely different experience from the first. I found it was not at all what I was expecting & bizarre at times.

With this story I feel there will be an intimacy that will always evade the reader due to Woolf’s relationship to Sackville-West. And maybe this is why I did not really care for the minute details within the story but still enjoyed the general concept of it. I like how Woolf approaches the meaning of life, the vast lifetime Orlando experiences, being present for many iconic moments in history, and encountering influential people from the Elizabethan age to Woolf’s present 1920’s. I loved how feminist & gender fluid it was.

thats very interesting observation and I do agree with you that Orlando is a very interesting observation in this particular book and it was out there for its time. This is my 3rd novel that I read by her and I did read two essays by her as well. Is this your first intro to Woolf??
