Yes but it’s not a dog book. I happened to get #2 in a short series at a used book sale & I like to read series in order. So I checked my library & both Hoopla & Libby apps. Turned out only one library in the state had a copy. My library requested it via inter-library loan. The other library says they sent it—but my library says they never received it! (It’s been about a month now.) So the only library copy in the state is now lost in the mail! I thought it’s old (‘60’s?), & couldn’t have been too popular if only 1 library kept a copy, maybe I can buy one cheap online. Oddly enough, it’s not that cheap! The cheapest I found was $5–more than I’m willing to pay when I don’t know if I like it! And some copies were much more expensive! I thought I’d be able to get one for $2 or less!

I also find that mystery books seem to be more expensive. I also find it hard to find books under $5 at the used book stores, it seems they have to sell the books for at least $5. (and I like hardbacks whenever they are available.) While I would say shop to get the lowest price, the lowest prices are usually $5 or more. But if you do need to shop, here are the used book sources I go look at to find the best price:
Thriftbooks.com - overall great source, good pricing. Free shipping with 3 or more books. You can sign up and get points to get free books.
Biblio.com – brokers from other sources, other bookstores. Good prices, or so many sources you can find a source you like best. Shipping costs usually, but not bad.
Ebay – I am surprised how good this has been to find books
Discoverbooks.com – another source, for my rarer vintage books not as good. Search engine not as good as Thriftbooks.
World of Books - www.wob.com/en-us is another source. Usually one of my last to look at.
Amazon – you can also buy used books from them, but usually more expensive.

Wondering if anyone else has a story on a quest for a book or one they are currently searching for?
My next questing beast is BAT: THE STORY OF A BULL TERRIER by Stephen W. Meader.
