Lynn, the listopia link isn't working. If a zealous librarian deleted it because there was nothing on it, here are a handful of books I know about:Mister Magic
Silver Nitrate
The Wake-Up Call
House of Odysseus

Thanks for letting me know. I checked each one as I linked it...but who knows? :(

I have recreated the Listopia and the link is working for me, but don't hesitate to let me know if it quits working again! :)

Ooh, House of Odysseus looks great! I'm teaching The Odyssey right now, so a retelling is just what I'm in the mood for.
Just had a peek at the Listopia and Teach the Torches to Burn: A Romeo & Juliet Remix looks interesting! Would fit the "book with a queer lead" prompt as well.
I'll have to wait till mid-way to determine what book I want. I'm having a hard time finding nonfiction releases.
Unless they get pushed out, I'm looking at one of these for the second half of 2023:Alecto the Ninth
Heavenly Tyrant
Thornhedge
Again, I’ll be reading from the Sanderson secret projects for this one! I’ve been very, very good, and avoided all the spoilers for MONTHS!Secret Project #3 (July) or Secret Project #4 (October) by Brandon Sanderson
I don't typically read new books when they come out, partly because my TBR is so very long! I looked at the Listopia list, L Y N N, but none of those are for authors that I am reading, so I think I will at least wait until 2023 actually comes to pick a book.
why are there starred book reviews for many of these books? are they from pre-printing versions? book reviewer samples? wishful thinkers? just clarifying my thoughts.
Soc wrote: "why are there starred book reviews for many of these books? are they from pre-printing versions? book reviewer samples? wishful thinkers? just clarifying my thoughts."Usually on Goodreads, I find it's a mix of actual reviews from ARCs (advanced reader copies), along with fans of the author giving premature 5 stars and detractors giving premature 1 stars.

I was not thinking of ARCs so thanks for the information. I have one I just finished.
I'm considering cheating on this prompt. I'll be finished with the rest of this challenge well before July so I might just change it to "a book that comes out in the first half of 2023" and call it good. With that said, I'm really looking forward to Silver Nitrate coming out in July and will definitely read it at some point.
While Indigenous Continent: The Epic Contest for North America has already been released, I came to find that the paperback edition will be released come September so that's perfect for me. I plan to get it so it can fit better on my shelf and I think it goes well here.
There are now 2 on the list that interest me: Ruth Ware's book, although it is later in the series for me; and Cassandra Clare's book, which would be a new series. Still considering.

Updating this: Heavenly Tyrant was officially postponed to 2024.
I've said I was done with memoirs for a while, however Hilarie Burton Morgan has a second book coming out in October so I'm excited for that one!Grimoire Girl: Creating an Inheritance of Magic and Mischief
Some I'm considering:System Collapse by Martha Wells
The Air Raid Book Club by Annie Lyons
Starter Villain by John Scalzi
The Mitford Affair by Marie Benedict
The Exchange: After The Firm by John Grisham
The Spy Coast by Tess Gerritsen
Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree
I am reading Ripe by Sarah Rose Etter. I have only read 10% of the book, and it's fantastic. It was published on 11th July.Side note, Etter is also hilarious on Twitter.
I'm bummed that Song of the Huntress got pushed to March '24, but I've got plenty more to choose from... just gotta be patient and wait for it all to get here!
If anyone likes "neo-noir" crime fiction, I just finished The Stolen Coast and I loved it!!! You have to like the terse noir style ,though.
I finished Immortal Longings. I'm not sure I liked it as much as Gong's These Violent Delights, but it wasn't bad. It look a little longer to settle in to, but once I did and figured out the rules of that world, it was a fairly quick read. Plus, the ending did leave me wanting to read the next book.
I was so fed up with this prompt that I decided to buy my grandson a book for his birthday published in July and read that! The Quickest Bedtime Story Ever! by Louise Fitzgerald. Published 6 July 2023.
Just editing to say that this was a huge favourite with its small recipient; lots to talk about in the illustrations, and a fun story. It has been read again (and again....)
I'm going with The Air Raid Book Club by Annie Lyons. I loved her The Brilliant Life of Eudora Honeysett. It came out on July 11 and my library has this available for check-out already. Yay!
There are so many. As much as I want to do Hilarie Burton Morgan's new book, I also have a few Indigenous books that I want to add also.

Starter Villain looks great!
I've got 4 to choose from for this prompt so I'm not sure which I'll go with yet. Probably one of my indigenous books:Grimoire Girl: Creating an Inheritance of Magic and Mischief
The Woman in Me
Indigenous Continent: The Epic Contest for North America
The Last Campaign: Sherman, Geronimo and the War for America
Okay, going with this one:The Abduction of Betty and Barney Hill: Alien Encounters, Civil Rights, and the New Age in America which was published in August 2023.
Just finished Drowning: The Rescue of Flight 1421, and loved it. Lots of engineering, which I loved more than I imagined. Great backstory of central family. It is a rescue, so I was on the edge of my seat very often!
I read Realm of Nightmares which is book #3 in the Faeven Saga by Hillary Raymer. Highly recommend! The first two books were 5-star reads for me and then book three was a 4-star read.
For those of us who don't live in an English speaking country, would you consider it ok if I read a book that was published in my country (as a translation) in the second half of the year? For instance, Kate Morton's new book was just translated now in Romanian, though it appeared in English earlier in the year.

Okay. I can't say I was all excited about this one when I read it, but I can think of a couple of my favorite author's books that are due to be released July-December of 2023.
