What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I have been looking for the name of this series for almost 6 months now. The series is based on the Little House on the Prairie series very loosely. The premise is that there is a widower father of three children, two boys and one girl. His children get into all kinds of trouble, especially his middle boy who does crazy things like trying to save the Thanksgiving turkey from being butchered and wanting to keep it as a pet. The little girl also falls in love with the pig they are raising for food and is horrified to learn about how they butcher the animals. It is a trilogy and I read these books as a child. Does anyone have any idea what the name of this series is?

Could it be the Sarah, Plain and Tall series by Patricia MacLachlan?

It is definitely not Sarah, Plain and Tall. They were published in the early to mid 90s. That is when I read them. I know the author is male, I just can't remember the title of the books or the series.

I found them!!!! They are the "Days of Laura Ingalls" series! They were published in the early 90s and written by Thomas Tedrow!
