Buddy read for the horror anthology in early 2023! Elyse and I recently read/are reading House of Leaves and it put me in such a mood to reread this anthology and Elyse has agreed to join me. If you want to read along, you’re all invited!

I've officially started this. I'm going to dip in and out of it. I read the first story, Kelder Church, and the writing wasn't amazing but the story was creepy fun. 3 stars

Catching up! I just finished reading The Swirly People.

I think my favourite so far this time around is The Waiting Room. (view spoiler)[

The thing with a room following you around is a creepy idea. That and the the line of shoes I thought worked really well.

I had some time to read at night when I didn't have power and couldn't read my physical books. lol.

Till Death Do Us Part (view spoiler)[Oooh I liked this one! And that it ended happily. I don't care if Adam died, Kate got out. lol. 5 stars (hide spoiler)]

The Swirly People (view spoiler)[I didn't love this one. It was fine. I kind of knew what was going to happen. 3 stars (hide spoiler)]

Moss (view spoiler)[I liked this one. Hate and anger can do powerful things but you may regret them after the moment has passed! 4 stars (hide spoiler)]

On the Other Side of Time (view spoiler)[I loved this one! Because I do believe in alternate realities and that every decision makes a new branch. It's fun to think about. lol. 5 stars (hide spoiler)]

Office Education (view spoiler)[I really liked this one but ick to both of them cheating on their spouses. Why even include that? It adds nothing to the story. 3 stars (hide spoiler)]

The Grand Finale (view spoiler)[My least favorite one so far. The old-timey western is not for me. I skimmed this one. 2 stars (hide spoiler)]

You’re gonna finish before me. 😅 I’m taking a bit of a break to read something a little lighter because I’m in a weird headspace.

Re: Till Death Do Us Part (view spoiler)[I was starting to wonder if the killer was supernatural tbh. She stabs him in the throat with scissors multiple times, caves in his nose, and intentionally hits him with a car, but it’s implied he might still have gotten up? (hide spoiler)]

Re: The Swirly People (view spoiler)[I really liked the image of the patterns in the ceiling becoming people trying to reach you. I feel like when you see that in movies and whatnot it would be hard to make it look as off-putting as it’s described in the book. (hide spoiler)]

The Artist is Not Present (view spoiler)[I liked this one! I kind of suspected that the previous person inside would be the one on the other side of the door. But then it lead me down the path of are these people missing? Are they getting cloned and sent back out? What happens after? But I still liked it! 4 stars (hide spoiler)]

Overall, I enjoyed more stories than I thought I would!

I just finished my reread! A fun collection.

I hope you enjoy it! I’m all caught up until the next one, It Calls From Bellow. Not sure when it’s coming out yet. I’m not in that one, but I’ve got another story coming out this year too. Just waiting until I have more information before I announce it officially. 💜
