Since we have 3 months to read this one, I'm leaving the spoiler-free thread available!
Unfortunately, our library system doesn't have this Upfield book, but I did read it many years ago and most of the series.
It's an enjoyable series.

That's good to know, Rosemarie! My library doesn't have it either, but it's available in the US for kindle for $6.50, so I am going to buy it!
I'm 14% (about an hour) into the audiobook. This is a very different kind of golden age mystery novel. Set in the Australian outback, it leans quite heavily into racial stereotypes and bush lore. The detective, Napoleon Bonaparte, is fascinating but is as much a literary construction as Holmes.
I like the humour and the details of life in a very small town. I'm still making my mind up about the storytelling pace.
