Probably read around 2012-2016. I believe the book starts with the girl kidnapped on a ship. She remembers her parents being killed in an attack on the palace or wherever they lived. Her parents sent her off with the magical ring. She prays/calls to the pirate she has heard stories about since childhood and the pirate shows up and rescues her. I remember a scene where the pirate flicks her sword in front of the leader's face and his beard falls off. Once on the pirate's ship they heard towards a pirate expo of some kind. At the expo the mysterious pirate visits a healer. The pirate is revealed to have nasty scars on her back and the paste is used to help soothe them. There are people after the girl and they want the magic ring. (There might be other magic jewelry i'm not sure). The pirate fights them off but the scars on her back are hurting her.
