For Ukraine, here are several lists you could consider, but don't feel compelled to do so.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...
https://medium.com/the-book-cafe/read...
Ukrainian Lit https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/8... (includes male authors and works may not be translated into English)
Ukrainian Immigrant Fiction https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/3... (includes male authors)
Best Ukrainian Books translated into English https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/9... (includes male authors)
For Africa, I nominate Jollof Rice and Other Revolutions: A Novel in Interlocking Stories by Nigerian author, Omolola Ijeoma Ogunyemi. It is available in a number of formats, but not inexpensive. (It's at my library.) I am unsure of availability in the UK and elsewhere. I can lead.
For Africa - I nominate Sankofa by Chibundu Onuzo. I can lead. Both of these are available in my library and free audio apps, so hopefully they're easily available for others too.
For Ukraine, I recommend The Memory Keeper of Kyiv by Erin Litteken. The author is the granddaughter of Ukrainian refugees after WW2. A share of proceeds from the purchase of the book will be donated to DEC's Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. The book is in paperback and hardback and ebook.
For Ukraine, I nominateBorderland: A Journey Through the History of Ukraine by Anna Reid. I can lead!
Carol wrote: "This is one heckuva an awesome slate, for both choices. Yay, us."Agreed! And there's still time to get in your nominations, members.

For February, we are looking to read a fiction book set in Africa and/or by an African author. This does not need to feature a specific country as our Read Around the World selections do.
We are also looking to read a Read Around the World selection featuring Ukraine. The book must be set in Ukraine for 50% or more, bonus if it is by a Ukranian author. This book can be fiction or non-fiction.
Criteria:
1. Book must be by a female author (transwomen and women using male pseudonyms are women).
2. No books that have already been group reads within the past 3 years/36 months (check the group's bookshelf).
3. Do not nominate a book you have written or for which you are the publicist or lead marketer.
4. Consider availability. If a book is available in the US and UK (at minimum), and in paperback and ebook formats, more members can participate than if not.
To Nominate:
1. Give both the title of the book and the author's name when nominating to avoid confusion. Please use the 'add book/author' button when nominating.
2. Indicate whether you are willing or not to lead discussion if your nomination is chosen.
3. Maximum - one nomination per member, per category.
