I've only read your Shirley Jackson selection. She is a unique author. I have enjoyed two other of Barclay's books. I hope you enjoy all of your selections.

It’s our local book club read for next month - has been on my TBR shelf for some time but the length had put me off until now so pleased that you said it’s a pretty good read

Sorry that the books haven't been great for you.
Bel Canto is either loved or hated; but I loved it.
NOS4A2 was excellent if you love Stephen King. I know this is Joe Hill; but NOS4A2 was signature SK. LOL

I do love Stephen King, and I have read some of Joe Hill's work, so I hope NOS4A2 is good. I hope I can read the rest of the books on my main list, and not have to use any more alternates.

Good luck, Karen. I hope you can finish them and you enjoy both of them very much. I only have one left on mine, but I started it over a month ago and can't seem to get anywhere with it. Why do I always want to read something else once I've got books on this list?

NOS4A2 is pretty fast-paced. Bel Canto kinda meanders, but its just a dreamy book. Its short; so, it should go by quickly.
Not sure about the others, but everyone seems to love Extremely loud and incredibly close.

I ended up moving to Then She Was Gone, because I wasn't really in the mood for Small Island; it seems like an easy read so far. Glad to hear that NOS4A2 moves quickly, since I left it until the very last, lol.

That IS what really counts!! I barely read this month myself. Too busy eating and visiting.
