This seems to be SF of the "Big Idea" type, where some unique concept takes major importance in the plot. Character development is kind of minimal. I'm usually not a fan of this type of SF, but I'm about halfway through the book and it is holding my interest.

OK. I started. 1/4 through. Sure glad everybody has perfect sexy bodies after death. (It's fun so far, but that is just funny to me.)

It was written in 1971, and there was alot of mention of sex in SF at that time. Writers were trying to be rebellious, and put alot of "free love" (no commitment sex) in their stories. It's funny because it looks kind of dated today.
