I just realized I got #2 with Amanda Gorman for an A. Call Us What We Carry Poems by Amanda Gorman I really do love her. She is political, yes, but in an honest and inspiring way. To acknowledge mistakes in our past does not mean we are doomed to be divided forever. She has remarkable grace and intelligence for a women in her young 20’s. 5 Stars 🌟

Then I finished #8: The Secret Book of Flora Lea by Patti Callahan Henry , by Patti Callahan Henry. I found this to be such a magical and uplifting book. It involves two sisters using Fairy Tales as they are shipped to another family in the country during the war. The older sister helps her young sister invent a fantasy world called Whisperwood to soothe her fears. Yet, suddenly young Flora is missing. 20 years later, her sister sees a book in the US called Whisperworld. How can this be since she never told anyone? Could her sister possibly be alive? It was just an enchanting book at a time I needed one.

The author has done research and over three million children were transferred out of London to the Countryside or other countries like Canada, Australia, or the US. It was odd that they called this The Pied Piper Day, since this tale did not inspire optimism. The Pied Piper is a story where an entertaining Piper plays the flute and attracts children. He then brings them to the River and drowns them. The author thinks they probably just liked the name and never did the research behind this tale.

Kristine | 411 comments Just finished You Were Always Mine by Christine Pride , Christine Pride and Jo Piazza. Interesting look at Foster Parenting, Adoption, and Race. This involves a young women who is Black that is considering taking in a White Baby, a friend of hers has left in the park. Like both of these authors and collaborating. I rated it 4 ⭐️ Stars.

Kristine | 411 comments Just Realized I got Another Finished. Only in New York (The 50 States) by Heather Alexander , Heather Alexander. I really loved this as I had lived Most of my Life in NY.

I gave this one 5 Stars ⭐️. It had so much fascinating information and loved the Layout. It is listed as a Children’s Book, but Would Also be Great as A Coffee Table Book if you like NY. Wish author would do more States. This is my Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

It’s only 64 Pages, but took me several hours to read and just found out so much new information I had not known before. Took 3 Pages of Notes. It was a Fun Read

Kristine | 411 comments I just finished The Address by Fiona Davis , by Fiona Davis. I love her books since all are centered around famous places in NYC. I am cutting it close this year. Need to read 3 more books to finish this. Hopefully, I can 🫤

Kristine | 411 comments I just finished Comfort & Joy A Fable by Kristin Hannah , by Kristin Hannah. It was a Christmas Fable, kind of sweet, but really a let down for me. I have read other Kristin Hannah books and just think those have so much more complexity to them. I rated it 2 Stars. If you are in the mood for a story that suspends belief, but shows all is possible, it’s definitely readable.

Kristine | 411 comments I also finished The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson , by Kim Michele Richardson. This had a great story and such a strong main character, Cussy. The history of the Kentucky Region, Blue People, and the Pack Horse Library Project was fascinating. I am glad I have the Sequel to read, The Book Woman’s Daughter. This one definitely earned collected Dust. It’s been sitting in various spots for me to read forever.

Kristine | 411 comments Well, I definitely cut this one close, but this was a relatively calm week and got my books in.
The Secret History by Donna Tartt , Donna Tartt Excellent Book, but the Evil often gave me the Chills. I read The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt and loved that book, too.
