Books and Coffee discussion

Has anyone been assigned a book to read for class at school, whether you're in college or high school, and had another book you were reading at the same time?

I know I have, my thought process basically was that if I have to read this book for class, then I'm going to read another book that I actually want to read. When I was in eighth grade, I was once reading three books at the same time. One was for my English class, one was for book club, and the third was one that I was reading for myself. I kept going like that throughout middle and high school. I would be reading at lease two books at once. It's occurred to me, that school basically taught me to be able to read multiple books at a time without confusing the books.
