Perched in a tree near the palace, a cloaked girl watched the guards. She had a job to do inside the palace. Emerald leaped down, landing on her feet silently, and slipped through the gates as the guards switched.

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Emeri didn't notice the girl and walked up the stairs. She followed a map to find the room of the target. Aella. What a dumb name. She knocked on the door with a smirk.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

With a single fluid movement, she rushed into the room, shut the door, and drew her daggers. Taking advantage of the girl's sleepiness, she pinned her against the wall and whispered, "If you do ANYTHING, you die." The person paying her had preferred for Aella to be alive, but still...

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

Emeri bound her wrists, holding a dagger to her neck. "Nothing you should care about. Come on. Out the window." She placed a gag over her mouth.

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

She shoved Aella in front of her, awkwardly moving them down the tree. They scaled another branch to get over and were almost there when Emeri cursed under her breath and shoved her cloak over her face. Guards were shouting and ringing an alarm. They had seen them. They made it over the wall and Emeri dragged Aella through the forest.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

She snorted. "Shut your mouth, Aella." She continued walking towards the point where she would make the trade. Aella for five bags of gold. Not bad, considering that she was the only one to make it out.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

"Oh, not so fast." Emeri smirked and sprinted after Aella, much faster than the other girl. She used her Tidemaker powers to create a puddle under Aella, so that she slipped, then pinned her to the ground. "Nice try." She grabbed one of her daggers. "Up."

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

She snorted. "No. I get paid too much for a brat to ruin this." She shoved Aella. "Faster." The woods slowly morphed to meadows.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

"You don't know what my life is like," she hissed, shoving her even more forwards. She reached the point and waited for the man to come.
((So I have this idea that maybe somebody wants to kill off all the Grisha and that's why he asked for Aella, but then he tells her and Emeri gets Aella back before they kill her and they escape?))

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

"Where you're going, you'll never see much of anybody anymore," she said, watching the figure of a man approach them.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

"As soon as I get my gold," she grumbled as a cloth filled with sedatives was placed over Aella's nose and mouth and she crumpled to the floor. The man handed her the gold. "Ah... one down, many more to go." Emeri fixed him with an odd stare. "What do you mean?" He laughed. "The Grishas, of course. I plan to wipe them out entirely." Emeri studied him. "In that case..." She punched one man in the stomach and whirled around, bashing the other into the ground. "I don't want to hurt you." She whipped out a dagger. "We're leaving." The man watched her leave, dragging Aella behind her.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

"Shh!" A girl with strawberry blond hair and blue-grey eyes lifted her up. "It's me." Her cloak wasn't covering her head anymore. "Move it." They were lying in some sort of alley.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

"Yes, and if you don't want to die, get moving." She had dragged Aella to the nearest town, but she knew the man had sent others after her.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Emeri glared at her. "Be quiet. We're still being hunted." Usually, Emeri was the hunter, but in this case... "He was trying to destroy all the Grishas. And I realized that you must be one too..."

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

"First, how would I know? Second..." She glared at Aella fiercely. "Because I'm the only one you have left. From now on, your 'status' won't help you, it'll get you killed. Stick with me, and you might survive. On your own... you have no chance."

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Emeri found them rooms and stomped upstairs. There were two beds and a restroom, and little else. She set down her backpack and unstrapped her boots.

((Oh! thanks! sounds interesting))

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Emeri threw off her cloak and sat on the bed. "I guess I never really told you my name," she muttered.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Emeri tilted her head and narrowed her eyes. "Night, Aella," she said stiffly, and lay down, not after checking to make sure she still had her daggers.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Emeri yawned and stretched as she woke up. She got out of bed, ignoring Aella, and threw on her cloak and belt with her daggers. "Follow me," she said and walked to the door. She walked down to where the inn had breakfast and get a table.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

She thought for a moment. "I know a guy in this town who can tell me more about... everything. We'll go talk to him today." Her eyes glimmered.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

"We can go up to the room to change quickly," Emeri said, putting some coins on the table. She quickly learned to shed the clothes of Grisha when she was abandoned. Her cloak covered her whole figure anyways.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

She scoffed and headed out the door, her cloak snapping in the wind. Emeri didn't even wait for Aella to catch up with her long strides as she cut through back alleys and streets.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Emeri turned to glare at her. "No." She didn't want to stop and wait for the spoiled brat. It was her own fault that all she did was eat delicious food and play. No exercise, obviously. She turned onto a shady street with tilted buildings and market stalls selling odd things.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

"Right here," Emeri said, kicking away what looked like an unassuming box behind one of the stalls that revealed a trapdoor. She opened it up and gestured for Aella to head inside.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

He was very old, frail, and wrinkled. Emeri pushed past Aella after putting the trapdoor back in place and said, "Tell me what's going on with Dominic Sorran and Grishas," in a tone that said, 'do it now or there's going to be a dagger at your neck'. "I know you know everything that goes on here." The man laughed, his arms bound to the chair he was sitting in. "Look who's decided to visit. It's the Emerald Assasin." Emeri growled. "You know the drill, old man." He sighed. "Fine. Word has it around here that Dom has been trying to... exterminate the Grishas, for lack of a better word. Wants to stop the Grishas from dominating everything cause he thinks that they have too much power." He smiled at Aella. "Oh, and nice to meet you too, dear."

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

"We got what we needed. Let's go," she said, without a single word to Aella or the man. She pushed open the trapdoor and was about to call Aella to come up before she felt the cold steel of a knife against her neck. She slowly raised her hands and closed the trapdoor so Aella wouldn't come out and try something stupid. She studied her surroundings. Three men, including one holding a knife to her neck. "Hello dear," he said in a crisp accent. "Time to-" But whatever it was time to do, she would never know. Emeri lunged forward and twisted the hand holding the knife so that it was tilted at his neck. "A single step and I kill him. Tell me to you're working for." The two other men looked at each other and sprinted away. She scoffed. "Cowards." She turned to the last man. "Now-" He dropped to his knees. "I'm working for Dom!" Then he managed to twist out of her grip and ran away. She pulled open the trapdoor. "Safe to come out now."

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

"We're going to move now. Hope you didn't like anything you had in your pack." Emeri had carried hers with her, along with her daggers. She hailed a carriage. "As far as you can go until sundown," she told the driver, who looked skeptical until she pulled out some coins. She got it. "What are you waiting for?"

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

"For your first question, we'll travel until sundown. For your second... as long as we have to. I was thinking we'd recruit the remaining Grishas and tell them what's happening," Emeri said. She set her pack down next to her.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

"We can camp here," Emeri said, paying the man. The carriage rolled away and Emeri hiked into the forest. After ten minutes, she stopped and took two sleeping rolls out of her pack, along with some bars and a canteen of water. She sat down on the roll and began to eat her bar.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

She scoffed. "I work for whoever pays. What were you, living under a rock? Have you really never heard of me?" Jeez, she was sheltered. Emeri sighed and rolled her eyes. She pulled out her emerald-encrusted daggers. "I'm the Emerald Assasin."

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

She sheathed her daggers. "We met in a pub. I was looking for some work to do and he was looking for an assassin. Why?" She studied Aella. Emeri finished her bar and lay down.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Emeri was already awake, rolling up her pack. She had thought over what Aella had said and she decided... over her dead body. She ignored Aella and put out the fire. She had only slept for three hours before waking up for watch. She couldn't believe she had forgotten to keep watch, but nothing threatened them except for a thoroughly confused bear.

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

"We're getting a carriage to the nearest town," Emeri said, grabbing the bars. "Here, breakfast." She purposely ignored Aella's mention of last night. She didn't really want to think about herself. No, it was better to think about all the innocent Grishas who needed saving.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

"Wait!" Emeri said after they got into the cab. "Stop here and come back after an hour." She paid him more money and he agreed to stop next to an old apartment building. "I know a Grisha here," Emeri said to Aella quietly. She walked up the stairs to room number three and rapped on the door. A girl opened the door. "Sorry, my ma's not- Omg Emeri!" She wrapped her in a hug. "I haven't seen you in so long!" Emeri shoved her away. "Yeah, yeah. Look, I need to tell you something. Let's go inside." She walked in, followed by the young girl.

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

Emeri sat down on the couch and glared at Aella. "Not now."
"Sorry about her," said the girl. "She's a bit of a grumpy pants."
Emeri rolled her eyes and crossed her arms.
"I'm Keres, but you can call me Ki," she said with a cheerful smile. "Now, what did you want to tell me?"
Emeri explained the plot to her. "Oh... I had no idea. Of course, I'll come with you!"

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

"Yeah. But she's coming with us," Emeri said.
Ki returned cheerfully with her cup of tea. "That's cause I'm a Tailor! See?" she momentarily turned her hair blue, then back to its regular white-blond. She set down the tea and wiped her hands, freezing as she heard a knock. "Ma isn't due to be home yet..."
Emeri sprang into position, ready to open the door. She drew one dagger. "On three..."

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

Emeri pulled open the door to five men, all with guns. Before anyone could fire a single shot, Emeri dove at their feet, pushing two off the edge. They hit the ground down two stories. Two down, three to go. She slammed the door shut as one fired a shot that hit the door next to her neck. Then, Emeri grabbed one by the neck, using him as a shield. She bodyslammed another with the human shield and they both fell down. She dodged multiple bullets before one hit her arm. She hardly felt anything, though, as she tackled the last one and they hit the ground. Hand to hand combat wasn't her best skill, but she still began to choke the assassin. But he slammed her against the door and the tables turned. Now Emeri was losing consciousness as she choked. Finally, she used the one thing that she hated. Surrounding the man's head in a bubble of water, she collapsed to the floor as he became weaker and weaker, finally drowning. She tapped the door. "You can come out." Ki immediately rushed out and took ahold of the situation. "I'll obviously need to give you guys disguises and -oh! You're bleeding!" Emeri groaned. "I'm fine." "You are absolutely not fine! You just took on five armed grown men with nothing but a dagger and killed them all with only a bullet in your arm to show!"

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

"Of course," she said, kicking a man's body aside. "Quick, Ki. Get your kit." Ki scrambled inside and Emeri tilted her head at Aella, curious. "Why would you ask?" Her pack was slung across her shoulder. She sheathed her dagger but kept one hand on the hilt.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

She snorted. Worried. About her. She hated to break it to Aella, but she had been taking care of herself since she was six years old. That was when she was abandoned in the graveyard. That was when her mother had died. Inside she heard Ki talking. "Oh, I'm fine, thanks!" She gave her a smile as Emeri yelled, "Move it! If backup comes..." They went down the stairs and got into a carriage.

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

When they had set up camp, Ki studied them, then announced, "Time to change our appearances." She grabbed her kit and pulled out a piece of obsidian. She placed it on Emeri's hair and it melted into her hair, turning it shiny and black. Gone were the strawberry blond waves. Emeri sighed. "Continue." When Ki was done, Emeri's eyes were a dark brown and her skin had darkened. The freckles that sprayed across her nose and checks were gone as well. "I already changed myself," Ki said, pointing to her curly brown hair and green eyes. "Are you ready?" she asked Aella.

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

((That's okay :D))
Ki grinned as she changed her hair to short, choppy, and blue. Her eye color changed to bright gold. "Tada! Hope you don't mind that I kinda went... crazy." She handed her a mirror. "What do you think? If you want I can change it."

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

"Continue gathering Grishas. Obviously. I know an Alkemi... He's close to here." She grabbed her lighter and set the pile on fire, handing out the bars and water. "For now, let's just sleep."

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

((Question, do you want to create the Alkemi?))
"I'll take the first watch," Emeri said, an alert look on her face. Ki was already stretching. "If you... don't mind," she yawned. She was asleep before her head hit the pillow.

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

((okay :D))
Over the sound of Ki's snoring, Emeri sat and hummed a song. A lullaby that she remembered faintly. Her mother must've sung it to her as a child.

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

((Cool :D))
"Thanks," Emeri said warily. "Do you mind waking up Ki in a few hours? If she'll even wake up." She scooted over to her bed.

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

Emeri was sound asleep. Her dreams weren't good, though. Ki yawned. "What happened to the tap-dancing pineapples in tutus?" she said in between yawns.

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

Emeri was up, putting out the fire and packing, as usual. Ki was still sleeping. She had taken the job of watching from Ki after she fell asleep on Emeri muttering about pineapples.
