Congratulations to you and your husband on his new job and the adventure of moving to a new place and exploring it! :)
Janice wrote: "Congratulations to you and your husband on his new job and the adventure of moving to a new place and exploring it! :)"Thank you, Janice! We are both excited and looking forward to it. We are especially looking forward to the change in temperature (from 20s/30sF to 50s/60s F), though we'll definitely pay for it in the summertime. LOL.
I would also like to nominate the following books for March's BOTM:
Big Apple Diaries
The Canyon's Edge
The Disaster Days

Thanks for the nominations!
The Train to Impossible Places definitely fits, as it's rated for ages 6-12. Lucy and Linh is rated for ages 12 and up, so it just makes it on the upper end of MG.
Anastasia Krupnik (birth of a sibling)Adeline's Dream (immigration)
A Gathering of Days: A New England Girl's Journal, 1830-32 (new step mother)

Good luck with your move, and sorry it is so rushed!
The nomination period is now closed. Thank you for all the wonderful nominations. Make sure to vote in the poll for your favorite! The poll will be open for one week, from 2/1 12:00 AM PST to 2/7 11:59 PM PST.
I'm not sure how to link the specific poll, but here is a link to the polls page. It should be the top poll. If that link doesn't work, another way to reach it is to select "polls" from the options on the right side of the screen on the main group page. You might need to select "show as desktop page" on your tablet for this to work, though.

I have been thinking about potential topics/themes for March and thought I had it figured out when my life took a crazy, yet happy, turn. My husband, who has been looking for a new job for months, finally got a new job. When he was being interviewed, we were anticipating moving in about 2 months. Instead, he starts at the new job next week, remotely, with us moving ASAP. While this is exciting, it also means that we are moving over 600 miles away in the next few weeks. And, while we don't have any children, it did get me thinking about how sudden, big changes like this can affect kids.
To that end, the theme for our BOTM read for March is:
BIG CHANGES
This could mean a cross-country move, the birth of a sibling, the death of a family member, a family member coming out, the loss of their home due to a tornado, or some other event, whether expected or unexpected, that brings about a big change for our protagonist.
This nomination thread will close on Tuesday, January 31st at 11:59 PM EST, which gives us 2 weeks! So, let's have your suggestions!
And don't forget to be looking for a copy of The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind to read for February (as another reminder for those who listen to audiobooks, Audible has it on sale for the month of January for only $6.99).
