I didn't get why there would be math greetings. They would have killed me on the spot. ummmm.. 3

I think, the thinking is the math greetings is something different. And shows how intelligent their race is. Or how bad schooling was on tattooine!

Luke's journey to learn the Force without Ben and wanting to know more about his father are the most interesting aspects of the novel. I'm hoping the rest of the story builds into something more. I'm enjoying the first person narrative more than I thought. Romance would be a welcomed plot point between Luke and Nakari Kelen.

In chapter 9, Luke remarks that Leia "always kept fighting for the people she could see, the people she could save: Hers was the example we all followed."

Are the Marvel comics canon? If so, this observation of Leia's character is a stark contrast to her behavior in the first issue of the Princess Leia series (view spoiler)[where she deserts from the Rebel Alliance to track down missing survivors from Alderaan (hide spoiler)].
