This was a quick and entertaining read. I liked the personal touches in the correspondence between Helene and Frank and also the glimpses into what was happening in that time period. I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I was familiar with a greater number of the books mentioned. It bothered me when it seemed letters were missing (to be expected) and I wondered about including all the thank you notes for the food and items sent. It almost seemed the author was highlighting her philanthropy. I think the correspondents from Marks & Co should have been considered co-authors of the book.
