So far I'm really enjoying this book! I love the atmosphere at Blue's house. Its so chaotic and kind of just gives off this magical feel. I love all the boys right now but I think my favorites are Gansey and Ronan :D The part where Ronan found the Raven made my heart melt but I'm curious as to where and how he found it? I'm also pretty positive that the feeling Adam is getting is because of Noah.

The question of the week: if you had the opportunity to ask Maura if you were going to die this year or not, would you? Why or why not?

i'm loving it so far, the guys are great, i love adam, and ronan, and i'm really curious to know more about noah. i have so many questions, and it's confusing at times, but i feel like the questions will be answered soon. and the writing is great, and i'm so excited to read the rest of it

oh and i think noah is the czerny or somehow related to him? cause i've seen like graphics of him, with that last name so yeah

I agree, there were definitely some confusing parts! Do you have any idea what might happen? I think Noah is Czerny too! It makes sense because Barrington is always talking about how Czerny died and it was also mentioned that Barrington wasn't much older than the students, then Noah said "well I've been dead seven years". So yeah I totally think they're the same person. I'm kind of wondering if Noah is spying on them because he still wants the treasure for him and Barrington? Or maybe just himself since Barrington doesn't seem to know he's even "alive"

The theory about Noah being Czerny is so cool and not something I thought of before, but it makes complete sense! I also had a theory that Czerny could have been Blue's dad because of the conversation in ch. eleven where Blue thought they were talking about him ... And how Gansey just disappeared when they tried to see his death "like him." If they did mean Blue's father, and Gansey and Czerny were chasing the same thing... I didn't think about the timeline there, though. Now that you guys mention your theory I think there's not enough of an age difference there for mine to be right, haha

But you do bring up a good point! I'm really curious as to who her dad is. At first I thought it wasn't super important but after she started talking about how she would daydream about him and stuff, I think he's super important.

Just a random comment that's pretty unrelated, I wonder if dreaming is a big aspect of the story? Because Ronan essentially found the raven (which I think is important) because he couldn't "dream". I thought it was pretty odd that he didnt say "I couldn't sleep" but said "I couldn't dream" (Chapter 9) And the title of book two is The Dream Thieves so I just wonder if that event was a little more important than they let on haha

I didn't think about it but you're probably right! Also, going off that, he said he found the raven "in his mind" which I thought was weird as well...

Also I really like the relationship between the boys. You could really tell so much by that scene, Gansey was so worried about Ronan. And even though Adam isn't fond of him he was still willing to try sneaking out when he heard he was missing.

Yes! That was a very odd statement.

I love their relationships too! It makes reading about them so interesting. They really care for eachother and it's great because as far as I can tell they don't have many other people around to care about them. It's like they've made their own little family. Speaking of Adam, I'm so worried about him! Chapter 12 ended with such a cliff hanger as to what happened to him. It honestly breaks my heart that they're all so troubled in so many ways.

I also can't wait to see Blue's reaction when she sees "President Cell Phone" is Gansey haha

I like the characters and their relationships with their friends. Noah is a very mysterious character, and I'd like to discover more about him. I thought Ronan taking care of the raven was very cute :) Also, I can't decide whether I ship Blue/Gansey or Blue/Adam (I'm leaning towards Adam, but Gansey is very nice as well). Blue's family have unusual names; I didn't think Blue's mom naming her that was very realistic. At the time she was born it probably would have been an even more unusual name, but I do like the name. I didn't really get why Gansey was so obsessed over finding that Welsh king though.

I really love this book so much. The whole atmosphere of the house is amazing and I love the book. I have to admit though I probably wouldn't ask if I was going to die because knowing would only scare me even more than not knowing. So I don't think I could.

But I am really liking this book and I can't wait to carry on reading!

I haven't read chapter twelve yet, I joined this discussion a bit early since I only read to eleven haha. I can't wait for Blue's reaction either, I keep wondering how she didn't recognize him? But I guess she did mention that she couldn't see his features as a ghost or something like that, right?

Yeah, what she saw was just a blurry figure. She felt his presence more than she visually saw him :)

This is just my opinion but I think Gansey is obsessed with finding him because it gives his life more purpose than being a spoiled rich kid. I don't know for sure though so until it directly says it I'm just going to assume thats why haha. I feel like most of these characters have odd names too! Like even Gansey and Ronan are fairly uncommon names, but I love all the weird names still. I think they're very unique :)

That is so true about Gansey and the boys kind of making him whole! I love their friendships because it totally seems like they all /need/ each other. Especially when they all have problems, whether with family, insecurities, or other issues.

The lynch family story broke my heart too! I actually thought at first that their dad killed himself and Ronan found him because his brother was like "he found him", but then the story that actually happened is just as dreadful.

I'm really curious about where The Raven King storyline will go! I know the fourth book is going to be titled The Raven King but there's so much mystery in this book that I can't even take a guess at what could be happening haha.

I completely agree on the answer to the question. I think I'd rather live in blissful ignorance than always being scared today might be the day I die.

Completely agree! Knowing you would die that year would be far too terrifying.

I'm really excited to keep reading too! I almost couldn't stop at chapter 12 and felt like I had to keep reading haha

I agree that he's just looking for something that "money can't buy." I don't think he realizes that all this moving around he did trying to find the king does take money haha - his money is really why he can search in the first place, it sounds like.

I do wonder if he knows what he would wish for, though. It would be interesting to find out if he's thought about it, or would he just give it to one of the boys since they're helping him?

I'm not positive, but I think he may be planning on giving it away because in Adams pov in Ch 4 he says "Gansey and Adam sought Glendower for different reasons. Gansey(...)to make sure his life meant something beyond champagne parties and white collars(...). Adam, on the other hand, needed that favor" So I think Gansey doesn't care about the wish right now but he may in the future.

I remember that part but also that was Adams perspective wasn't it? So I'm just wondering if Gansey would actually give it away, or maybe he doesn't know that Adam wants it? I think it will be interesting because you have four of them and one wish, anyway. Even if Gansey would give it up, would the other guys be upset? I mean, they all have pretty tough lives and I'm sure could think of things to wish for.

Thats very true, I didn't think about that! It is an interesting thing to think about...I wonder if Ronan even really thinks about it? We haven't seen his perspective yet and I thought he seemed pretty disinterested when Gansey was showing him the recording, but at the same time it could've been a front and he really does care.

I think that Gansey would be the kind of person who, even though getting his wish granted would be amazing (whatever that might be), would give it to someone who needed it more.

As for the question of the week, I would like to know if I would die or not. In a dream I had a long time ago, I was in an accident of some sort where my death was inevitable (I was crushed to death), but when I knew that, I felt at peace-- I accepted the fact that I would die. I would use my remaining time to get all my affairs in order, spend more time with my loved ones, do things from my bucket list, etc. Even if I don't die that year, I would prefer knowing.

I don't know about Ronan. It might be a front, or maybe it's just not something he thinks much about. I hadn't thought about it but having a chapter from his point of view would be nice.

Blue was also thinking about what she would wish for, and since they obviously meet and I'm guessing she will join them ... That adds another one, lol.

He seems like he type to give it away to me, too. He seems very concerned for the other boys so I think, if it would help one of them, he would give away his wish.

I've already finished the book so I have to be very careful to not post spoilers I love blue's house it has the same intense crazy atmosphere as my house only amplified and I really love Calla and Persephone they have very contrasting different personalities yet they're still good friends

I'm in the same boat as you are! And I had to go back and look at what the first 12 chapters about. I really do not want to spoil anyone~ But as everyone said, I really do love Blue's house and the way her family is. I am in love with her family and the different types of personalities that they have and I really want to learn more about all of them. One thing that really threw me off was Welk (the Latin Professor). At first I only saw him as a side character with a past..but what kind of past did he have? Now that is the question.
The Raven Boys..Hmm I love their relationship with each other and how well they mold together to find the leylines. And you will see them grow and grow..And Ronan grows on anyone. BUT! Someone made a great point about him and that is what is his story about finding his dad..or did he kill him..HMMMMM!??!! I really would love to know..to be quiet honest.

I think we'll find out in the next book

I am absolutely in LOVE with this book so far. The writing style is absolutely beautiful and I'm already in love with the characters! Also the whole weirdness of the story really interests me. I think my favorites so far have to be Ronan and Adam.
I'm super interested in the whole Lynch brother drama/fight that's going down... I feel like there's more to that story than we know so far. Can't wait to read the rest!!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking the whole time! The whole Ronan dreaming thing seems like it's gonna play a big role in the storyline...

Don't you hate when that happens? I haven't seen any direct spoilers yet, although I can guess a couple of little things based on stuff I've seen.

Y'ALL. I just finished ch.12. I'm so sldfjkbjlkfhjlkfjglhkjogkbjklj. Also, Ronan and the lil bird=so cute!!

I love this book so far! The writing style is clear and interesting, and the story is super grasping and I love that the endings of chapters always leave you wanting more information.
Right now I'm kind of curious as to where Blue's relationship with Adam is going to go, and how she is going to react when she finally meets Gansey. I love the theories about Czerny being Blue's dad or that Noah is Czerny, too, and both of them totally make sense! Also the part with Ronan and the raven was really heart warming, and I think the raven is going to end up being a major part of the story ("The Raven Boys"? Eh?) I'm so excited to read the rest of it!

Noah being...Blue's dad?! oh my goodness...that is actually a good theory!!

I'm curious about Adam and Blue too! I mean, I assume at some point Blue does fall in love with Gansey so I'm wondering how it affects Adam and how he'll react.

I've been wondering that too. It's going to be massive though I feel and it is definitely going to impact on thier friendship but I hope it won't as I like them (Adam and Gansey) as being good friends

I ship Blue & Adam so hard. But also I ship Adam & Gansey... oops.

I've been so tempted to do the same! I'm not sure I'll be able to stop myself from reading until the end next time I pick it up again haha. I try to wait for the discussion but im not used to reading this slowly.

Once I got to a certain point I just had to know what happens next! Hehe. It's so exciting :D

Haha, I feel like that at times! But I'm reading the Bloodlines series on the side so it makes me want to put it down when I reach the end of the weekly reading hahaha

Trust me guys..you aren't able to put it down after..these chapters. It gets super good..

I'm up to ch. 25 and I'm sorry but I must go ahead and continue. It's so good! I can't wait to see what happens and everyone's theories are super interesting.

I'm the worst person ever and just got to page 30. It seems super meh right now, like I really can't get into it at all, and I'm trying to force myself through it but as a result it's going ridiculously slow. I'm ashamed.

Don't worry Elisa! It might take to get to a certain point to really get into it. It is a lot of introductory stuff at first :) hope you get through it!
