If you’re interested in reading through some lore, it will be included below. :)

The first building built in this city was a palace. It was constructed so that the royal family could live separate from the people. The royal family consisted of the King, the Queen, three daughters, and one son. The children all acted as they were expected to act- with the exception of Lillith, the youngest daughter. While the others were in a stuffy room with a dull tutor, she was outside.
She practiced basic nature magic, communicated with faeires, and created her own little world in her room. It was large, and almost every inch was covered with some sort of plant. Also in her room resided a family of mice, which she fed daily, and a beautiful golden-furred cat. This room is now one of many rooms in the Chrysos City Museum.
The King and Queen simply went about their business, not paying much attention to their children. They were under the strong opinion that all magic was evil. When they learned that their daughter was a closet witch (or hidden witch, whatever term is preferable), they kicked her out of the palace, into a harsh world that she had been protected from for so long, with only a small satchel containing a glass orb and a knife.
She didn’t last long- a Cyrus Serpent, or fire serpent, caught her. It was massive, as big around as she was tall, and so long that she couldn’t see the end of the tail. She managed to lash out with her knife, blinding and wounding the beast. By that point, she had been bitten- a paralyzing venom was making its way through her system. Hurt, and terrified, she fell to the ground next to the writhing snake.
Her blood- that of the royal family and of magic, her tears- the sign of her pain, and the blood of the fire serpent mixed, sinking into the dirt, and marking it as a place of death. Around that area, plants sprung from the earth, thorny vines and bushes, carnivorous plants, and all sorts of other dangerous things. This place was named “Aster”. The place of flowers and thorns.
Over time, the bodies of the girl and the snake decayed, and the sun-bleached bones of the snake became the base of buildings, circled around the ruins of the palace. No one knows what became of the King, the Queen, and the children who had called it home.
Eventually, the city was built up by people who moved there. Magic, and the practice of it became more widely accepted. Now it’s a thriving center of life, where science and magic work hand in hand to make the lives of the residents better in any way possible. At the north end of the city, there is an academy- Zuko Academy. It’s built from the ruins of the old castle, and houses the Chrysos City Museum.
Members of all different people groups and species gather here to pool tools, materials, and knowledge. This is a safe place for all- a neutral territory of sorts.
The most spoken language in Chrysos is Common, and sign language is also a well-known language, due to the presence of the Renfreden.
