The premise is great. Five patients come together to try group therapy for survivors of supernatural attacks, and the therapy bits were everything I wanted them to be. Exploring the psychological trauma/PTSD left behind in the aftermath of what is usually the main plot in this type of book has become one of my favorite sub-sub-genres recently. This isn't even the only book like that on my 25-book Subdue the Shelf list :)
Each chapter is told from a different character's POV, some of which I found more successful than others. Harrison was by far my favorite -- and apparently got his own prequel novel, but I don't think I'll be reading it.
Unfortunately for me, the plot swerves into an action story that brings the group to a premature close and wasn't nearly as interesting as the introspective beginning and middle. It's a perfectly fine plot, but with a novella this size it didn't really have enough room to breathe to be fully satisfying on its own, and the book wraps up quickly without giving the reader much closure, which is just the exact opposite of what I'm looking for with this kind of premise! The journey was interesting, though.
