A place to discuss the first book in The Books of Imirillia. Please try to avoid spoilers for the sequels!
Personally, I've read hardly anything in my life that could be considered fantasy, but I am happy to give it a go with Beth Brower at the helm. I'm over halfway through at this point and enjoying The Queen's Gambit quite a bit. It's easy enough to figure out one particular plot twist about a hidden identity that will (I suspect) be coming soon, but there's still plenty of mystery about what else is really going on.
The mid-section of the book is a bit slow-paced, but it still keeps gently pulling me back to read more. It's a small, benevolent tug of war, and the book is winning. tug tug tug. 😉
