This year during the spring and fall semesters, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is hosting a series of events to commemorate the 75th anniversary of military integration through the passage of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act of 1948 and President Harry S. Truman signing of Executive Order 9981.
To celebrate this milestone anniversary of Women’s Armed Services Integration Act of 1948 SIUE will be hosting the Badass Lady Talk, owned and presented by Linda Hinkle, a former United States Army Combat Medic and current badass lady veteran. The Badass Lady Talk was specifically designed to tackle these issues and help make an impact! Linda’s presentation provides the opportunity to learn more about women veterans and how to better support these amazing women so they can excel in all areas.
Focusing on not just the challenges that women can face before, during, and after service, Badass Lady Talk keys in on the strength and resilience of women veterans. A powerful speaker, Linda makes a direct connection with her fellow women veterans. She uses her powerful and poignant life story to celebrate women student veterans in higher education.
Does our organization uplift women veterans to meet their academic success? Do we ensure that women veterans are connected with available resources and services? Does our campus strive to be an environment that encourages admission and focuses on retention of this unique population? The Badass Lady Talk is specifically designed to tackle these issues and help make an impact!
