I've been meaning to read this too. I'm reading the Six of Crows duology atm. will read this as soon as I'm done with that.
Hi all. Planned start is friday evening. Happy to see a few reading it, I thought the hype was over.
I got the whole series on kindle for 99p and I’ve been waiting to read it! I might join you guys 😊
I got the whole series on my bookstore platform for 99 cent too. Wanted it to read since then but not alone and to spare my bf, I quoted OUABH at him, the poor soul.
@ Bookbutterfly06 which prequel books. If you meant Once upon a broken heart I thought it comes after Caraval, something about the week of terror?
Starting today right? I have a couple books I need to get done over the next couple of days but I’ll catch up with you guys! Are we setting a certain amount of chapters a week?
I'll be starting tomorrow. Someone should post a reading timeline for this. We have one for our other buddy read -The Priory of the Orange Tree. That way no one will give out spoilers while discussing their favorite parts from the book. I'm assuming 10 chapters a week is easy to finish? Even if one is juggling multiple books?
I reached chapter eleven. Can somebody tell me if this is around page 102, please. I have the trilogy on ebook and the pagenumbers are crazy. What I like is that it isn't as flowery as OUABH, even if I wonder if it will stay this way. Also what is with this Julien character? :|
haha me too. I haven't started reading yet. but I'm sure we'll catch up soon. I've heard good things about this book.
@ mar I had two hours yesterday evening and the language isn't difficult. ;-) I thought along the lines of 150-200 pages a week then it's done in two weeks. Or am I too fast?
I’m quite a fast reader so honestly I will probably be able to do that 😂 plus then people can start the books they want to buddy read in April earlier in the month.
I’ll probably finish one of the books I’m reading in a couple days and then I can catch up to 150 pages before next friday 😊

I'm not sure if anyone's a Leigh Bardugo fan here. I just finished the second season of Shadow and Bone. Netflix was keeping me away but now I'm back and will surely be reading more than a 100 pages tonight. Caraval is so long overdue for me honestly. I hope I love it as much as I love the beautiful cover.
Okay. Just imagine my shock when I thought both the sisters were selfish to blame each other when they got caught by their father, the horrible Governor Dragna.
it's fun how simply saying her name is opening all doors for Scarlett in the game of Caraval. haha. I'm loving this book. I'm on chapter 11 now in one single sitting. I'm sorry but it's impossible to stick to the 10 chapters a week rule. this story is way too intriguing.
I haven't read the book before nor read spoilers for it, but I am guessing Julian is Legend or belongs to the troupé. :-? Dante is charming but his name is Dante so.... yeah not the best naming choice.
it would be awesome if Julian turns out to be Legend but I don't feel he is. he has some other big secret for sure though. also, I wonder who is the Count that Scarlett is supposed to marry?
I like the name Dante ever since I read this book by Ana Huang named... King of Wrath. the MMC in that is also named Dante.
Okay! I just finished this book and I won't say anything to spoil it for others except this --- PLEASE read it ASAP because I'm dying to talk about it. Ah and also, don't read my review of it that I'll be posting soon. This was a great read! And I'm so happy I was a part of this group. y'all might not realize it but just being a part of a group allowed me to pick this up and enjoy it when otherwise it had been lazying about on my TBR for months. So, thanks!
Reading, reading; probably finish in a few days.;-) and you left us all behind but I understand it is a quite quick and nice read.
haha. trust me no one can be more surprised than i am. but i just fell in love with Julian and couldn't let go of the book.
Ok finished. the last hundred pages were truly heartbreaking and I was actually not mad at the 'performers' way out of the situation. What is it with me and picking books were MC's die...:|
How else can we reach that apex of feeling? haha I'm a total masochist that way. I love books that turn me into a sobbing mess. haha
I’m gonna be starting Caraval tomorrow or Thursday and I’ll be caught up to half way by Friday 😊 I just have one book I’ll be reading first because it’s released tomorrow and I can’t wait haha
So I’m actually not going to be finishing Caraval this week 😂 we’ll I don’t think so anyway! My plan is to finish it the first week of April and then move on to the rest of the series!
haha. that's alright. read the first book whenever. and we'll read the rest of the series together. cool?
Ok then I will start the next one and read slowly. ;-) I have enough books standing in my shelf. :-S Also Sanserson.... can he write books under 500 pages?
That's alright. I've come to understand that fantasy books demand too much world building that cannot be achieved to perfection in 300 pages. Lol.
sorry I was rushing in the sense that I had a long train ride and I chose this one to read. but I want to know what you are thinking.
Sorry then I read the last chapters today. :-SS But I actually enjoy the Caraval series and am suprised by it. OUABH was a trashy, funny hot mess but mostly trashy. Can a writer get worse?:-? I still want to read the other two books...:-S
I haven't read OUABH yet. Caraval was my first book by this author and i really enjoyed it. It was actually quite unique and that's rare because a lot of fantasy novel tropes are beginning to look much the same these days
OUABH is not a bad story but oh does Garber take descriptions a step further. It was cringey and I was laughing helplessly; that or throwing the book into the corner (which I couldn't e-book).
