question
Shouldn’t Alina be more grateful for Nikolai?

I am rereading the S&B series after having seen the netflix series and I was just irritated about the reaction of Alina and Mal towards Nikolai. I dont know something about the dialogues just makes me think, is that really how you d react to someone you potentially really could use as an ally? The discussion in the tent after they arrive is really Alina going “oh really?? “ and “that doesn’t make sense” instead of like trying to embrace the god send that is a prince of Ravka actually hoping you would collaborate with him against the Darkling that is hunting you across the world.
Am I overly critical? What are your thoughts? Maybe this is a normal YA way of interacting characters Im not used to.

No, you arent overly critical. Nikolai is the best ally they could get. And the best person in this trilogy, in general.
Agreed :) I think the audio book version makes Alina sound particularly petulant at times.
Yes i absolutely agree. Nikolai is so helpful and really cares about everyone and everything. My fav character next to Kaz and Wylan from SoC
Nikolai carried Siege and Storm. Everyone should be grateful for him lol. Also, she kind of used him, but that's another thing I'm not going into cause i'll be here for days complaining about her character
