John Paul and Avery are forced to flee for their lives when ambushed in the woods. John Paul pushes Avery off a cliff into a river not once, but twice while trying to escape. Your thoughts on these escape scenes and the banter and chemistry taking place between these two characters? In what way is your opinion of them as a couple changing?

I loved these scenes. Avery showed such grit and determination that it even impressed John-Paul. They are falling in love but neither one of them wants to acknowledge it. I always loved that Avery stood up for herself and contributed a lot to the chase they were on. John-Paul would never be happy with a woman who couldn't hold her own against him.

I enjoyed Avery and John Paul while on the run from Monk. When he first saw Avery, he thought she was a blonde bimbo. I could see him changing his mind about her as he got to know her.

Avery was harder to read. She seemed to spend most of her time thinking about what her aunt was going through. I didn't see her falling for John Paul the way he fell for her.

I loved this couple. I saw both characters change their attitude, but neither wanted to admit it. John Paul was the first one to realize he was falling in love. Avery knew she was too, but she kept pushing it back and refused to acknowledge her feelings.

I did admire that Avery wouldn't be intimidated by John Paul. She was a contributor to their escape from Monk. Initially, they thought for themself, and then they became partners. I loved watching it evolve.

If I can just talk about the river for a sec... I was seriously mad when John-Paul pushed her in the second time. Once I remembered he was trying to save her life, I came around. But I didnt like him very much in that moment.

I'm surprised. He had to get her to move. Her death would not have been pretty if she didn't jump. I was never angry with John Paul.

In my mind, there was another way. I'll be darned if I can remember now what I was thinking then.

LOL I know what you mean. Sometimes I put previous books out of my head as soon as I move on to the next book.

I was surprised about the second push/jump scene. But only because I didn't expect it - that the author would use it a second time in the same book. While it may have seemed a bit harsh, it was once again the only option to save their lives
