MountainKat | 32338 comments Information required when posting your completion/s:

Task
Book/cover link
Page numbers with source
How book qualified, with links or cover as necessary.
Date Completed.
Rating/Review.

**Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only! If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. Ebook page count will be acceptable if no Kindle page count available. The acceptability of other page counts will be made on an individual basis.**

Please note that a rating is now required in your completion posts! A small review is also welcome. 😊

MountainKat | 32338 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though.

Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 4, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

~KarenH~ | 11510 comments Hi everyone!!!

I went ahead and just copied the task lists, etc. from our last round (can you tell I'm excited to get started???).

A lot of the collaborative tasks on the main list we can just leave as is, but we probably will want to change some of the series/authors since we used some of them last round. The list of tasks that may need updating is in msg #12. Also, the list of book recommendations we each made is in msg #7 - take a look there and see if you want to make any changes.

We only have a few more days to wait! 😁

Courtney | 2981 comments Yay! So excited!

For the author and series ones, I think maybe just the Illona Andrews one was actually used? I'm ok with keeping Maclean and Keeland for the other two if everyone else is.

message 16: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11510 comments We also used the Happily, Inc. series for #9...somehow didn't make it onto the 2nd list, but it's on the full list in msg 5, 6.

If I remember correctly we had that one narrowed down to Happily Inc or Lucky Harbor, and ended up going with Happily Inc because none of us had read it. I'm fine with using Lucky Harbor this time, or if anyone has any other ideas, that would be great too.

message 17: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2981 comments For my recommendations, I'll keep most of them. I really want to recommend Soul Eater (Monstrous, #1) by Lily Mayne , but it's not on KU and there isn't an audiobook yet. But I'll mention it here in case anyone wants to try it 🤣

I'll change Just for Kicks to
Lucky by Carina Adams - reverse age gap, hot for teacher 🔥

And Duke of Shadows to
The Tyrant Alpha's Rejected Mate (Five Packs, #1) by Cate C. Wells - grouchy shifter alpha falls in love with a woman at the bottom of the pack 🐺

Needed a shifter one in there because If I don't have enough wacky recommends, Chan will be upset 🤣🤣

Chan | 5166 comments Hey Everybody. So nice to be back together again. I hope life is treating you all well.

Oh Karen...I'm probably going to be in Tacoma in September. Are you far from there? it would be great to meet you and your doggy in person.

For message 7, i would like to switch out The Lightning struck heart with The One Night. It's only 200 pages.

I'm good with Lucky Harbor. We could even plug in Virgin River somewhere. Both of those are very long series that have long and short stories.

message 19: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2981 comments Lucky Harbor is fine for me. I also have some Heartbreaker Bay I need to get to if you all prefer that one.

message 20: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5166 comments Heartbreaker bay also works for me

Wow Chan, that would be great! I'm probably 1.5 - 2 hours away from Tacoma depending on traffic (and Seattle is right between us, so traffic is a BIG DEAL). Probably too far for you to come here so that leaves the pup out of the picture (since she gets carsick), but I'm sure we could find somewhere to meet in the middle!

~KarenH~ | 11510 comments Any Shalvis works fine for me...and just to throw another option into the mix, her Sunrise Cove series consists of all stand-alones...connected only by location. I don't recall any character crossover at all.

message 23: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2981 comments Sunrise Cove looks good to me! Happy to try a new series 😍

Elizabeth Nolly (booknerdchats) | 768 comments Hey everyone!! Sorry I kept checking the other day and then got busy. My daughter’s 6th birthday is tomorrow. I’ve been rushing around the last few days to finished up the plans for her birthday party.

I’m good with everything you all have already picked out and we’ve picked in the past. 🙂

message 25: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5166 comments Same for me. Sunrise cove would be okay as well.

message 26: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5166 comments Courtney how are you doing over in Taiwan? I remember you mentioned your husband moved to Australia(?) for work and you and the kids would follow soon after, but then you couldn't. So i wanted to check in and see how things were going.

message 27: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5166 comments Liz, happy bday to your daughter. I should know by now, it's her birthday. This game falls around the same time each year and you mention it.

message 28: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11510 comments We're all just too darned agreeable! 😁 Makes it hard to come to a decision sometimes!

I think (hope) the only thing left that we don't have some sort of option for is 9. Each player reads a book in the same series, teams decide. No pass for this task.

Looks like we have it narrowed down to Jill Shalvis (or maybe Virgin River?) but not which series...Lucky Harbor, Heartbreaker Bay, or Sunrise Cove. Any of those would be a reread for me so I really don't have a preference. Of the four (including Virgin River) I might lean slightly toward Lucky Harbor or Virgin River, only because it's been the longest since I've read either of those, but I'm totally fine with any of them. Anyone else have a preference, or should I just (figuratively) flip a coin?

message 30: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5166 comments darn it! our pesky agreeableness!

my preference order...but again, i would be totally okay with whatever is picked:

1. Virgin River
2. Lucky Harbor
3. Sunset Cove

message 31: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5166 comments 75. Read over 1000 pages in books that start with the same letter (no articles), teams decide letter.
A, B, H, L, R, S, T

Can we update these letters? I'm looking at what's on my current MnG 😁
C, D, F, S, T, W

message 32: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2981 comments I think we need one more author to replace Ilona Andrews, unless you all want to keep them again.

For the series, I would put:

1. Sunrise Cove
2. Lucky Harbor
3. Virgin River

I’m happy to change the letters up too. I have a bunch of C, T and W. Honestly, my TBR is so stupid long, I have something for like every letter, so anything should work 😂.

We're still in Taiwan. Well, me and the kids. My husband has been in Aus this whole time, but he did manage to come back for a visit at Christmas. Of course, he caught covid five days before his flight 🙄, so he ended up staying at a hotel for two days after he came in because his rapids were still positive.

There's kind of two things we're waiting on, our visas and our dog. My husband doesn't need a visa because he's a Kiwi, but we need family visas to stay there. I've submitted all the paperwork, but just waiting for a response. I figured it would be quick since we've been married over a decade and have 3 kids, but no. There are 20-somethings that have been living with with their Kiwi boyfriends for a year submitting after me and getting their approved already 😒. It's been really discouraging.

But it's not too super urgent because we're still waiting on our dog. Originally, we were going to bring the dog with us, but his health has been deteriorating really quick this past 8 months or so, and the vet didn't think he would handle the trip and quarantine well, so we're just waiting for him to pass. We've had a few false alarms since January, but he keeps pulling through. So who knows at this point.

I hate having everything up in the air though. It would be so helpful if I could plan a move date, but it's like everything is out of my control, and I HATE it. I'm way too Type A for this 🤣

Shoot, I forgot we need to replace Ilona Andrews. Any suggestions? It's late and my brain has pretty much shut down, but the only one I can think of offhand (since I'm pretty sure we're all good with sports romances) is Sawyer Bennett. Hopefully some of you will have some other ideas!

Why don't we just go ahead and go with Lucky Harbor for the series? It's been in the running for several rounds now I think, so maybe time to just bite the bullet and go with it.

message 36: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2981 comments Lucky Harbor is good for me. I picked the Shalvis over Carr just because I know even though her books are usually over 300 pages, the flow is really good for me, and I can finish them pretty quick. I've never read a Carr before, so I don't know how I'll do with one, and I don't want to keep you all waiting. 😅

Sawyer Bennet is fine for me. I was also thinking Pippa Grant or Lauren Blakely would be good.

Any of those are fine for me...I have a TON of options for Lauren Blakely, and I've never read Pippa Grant but there's plenty available in audio from the library (always happy to try out new authors). So I'm great with whatever works for everyone else!

I'm okay with Ilona Andrews unless you had somebody else in mind?

Haha...you put the series in the opposite order as me. I'm okay with your order or any order really.

Gosh it's like your life is limbo. I wondering why the other people are being approved before you. That seems so weird. Something's not right about that. Sorry to hear about your hubby missing two days with you and the family due to COVID. that had to suck.

I laughed at your Type A comment. Yeah this must be really aggravating you.

I hope you hear back about your family visa soon.

Lucky Harbor works for me.

Taking a quick peek at my MnG for authors...

Susan Stoker? She has long and short, but not sure how Courtney will feel about the action/suspense parts
Elizabeth Hoyt
Molly Harper - long and short reads, but i think she mainly writes PNR
Meghan Quinn - contemporary and usually funny
Anna Carven

Yep, a little over 4 hours until the first task is called! And you're right - no inside knowledge or anything here, but she has always had something not on the list up her sleeve for the first task so I'm guessing this round will be no different.

message 44: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11510 comments Here we go!

First Task - All Teams!

Task 1 - 0. Each teammate reads a book initially published in a Spring Month - March, April, May or June, of any year. Teams decide which month. No pass for this task.

I don’t know about you all, but I am so over winter this year! We are a week into April already and my daffodils have not even bloomed yet and we still have snow on the ground… 😒 So for your first task, as a team select a Spring Month - March, April, May or June. Each teammate then reads a book initially published in the selected month of any year. If there is a date at the top of the editions page - USE IT! Otherwise, I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include the selected month and the initial publication date in your completion posts.

Or something very similar at least!

I've got all but May on my M&G list, so would prefer not that, but could find one if I had to.

message 48: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5166 comments Okay. Could we do March?

message 49: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11510 comments I'm good with March, and I'm sure the others won't mind us making the call without them...it shouldn't be difficult to find something no matter which month is chosen!
