**Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only! If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. Ebook page count will be acceptable if no Kindle page count available. The acceptability of other page counts will be made on an individual basis.**
Please note that a rating is now required in your completion posts! A small review is also welcome. 😊
I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though.
Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.
PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 10, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉
Please let me know whether or not Laura is going to participate this round. They have not yet signed up as required.
Yes, Laura will be participating. Do you need her to go officially sign up at this point? I'll let her know. I think we forgot about that requirement.
Do we need to let them know what our team name is? Also just to clarify tasks will be posted tomorrow at 3:00 Pacific? and then we get a new task when we finish the prior? I think I got it?
Here are some tasks where we need info from each other.12. Read a book recommended to you by a teammate (in past we've posted a recommended shelf rather than individual books)
53. Each teammate reads a book set in one of your teammates' home town (born in, raised in, currently live in - all work)
58. Read 6 books published in the year one of the teammates joined RRRC
72. Read 4 books published in the decade of a teammate's birth, team decides which teammate.
74. Read 6 books published in a teammates' birth month, you may not use your own month.
91. Add up the years of the teammates' births and each teammate reads a book with that minimum number of pages. For example, teammates were born in 75, 83, 87 and 94 - each teammate reads a book at least 339 pages long.
99. Each teammate lists 5 favorite books. Select books from 2 different teammates and read them.
Well I grew up in LA, so that should be pretty easy. And I just joined the group a couple days ago so 2023, that might be easy too. And I was born in the same year as LauraLa 69. November.
For 53, I think in the past the state has been good enough, not the actual town.53. Born in Fairfield, California; Raised in Oxnard, California; Currently living in Mooresville, North Carolina
58. I joined in 2021.
72. Born in '74.
74. Born in September.
91. '74
For recommendations, I'll have to get back to you all. My recommendations always depend on the person asking.
Just a reminder to be sure to use the page count of the first published Kindle edition. It is okay to link the edition you read, if you're reading physical or listening to audio, but for the reported page count, first published Kindle edition is what Kat goes by.
Thanks Laura! SO how seriously are we taking this? I've been glancing at other teams threads just because I have no clue what I'm doing and some people are extremely prepared. But you all know I'm super type B, so whatever works.
First Task - All Teams!Task 1 - 0. Each teammate reads a book initially published in a Spring Month - March, April, May or June, of any year. Teams decide which month. No pass for this task.
I don’t know about you all, but I am so over winter this year! We are a week into April already and my daffodils have not even bloomed yet and we still have snow on the ground… 😒 So for your first task, as a team select a Spring Month - March, April, May or June. Each teammate then reads a book initially published in the selected month of any year. If there is a date at the top of the editions page - USE IT! Otherwise, I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include the selected month and the initial publication date in your completion posts.
Should we go with March? I'm about to start a book so I'll do a march book, I have a ton of April books to get to ASAP so I'm good with either.
True, no big deal I started a March book but I have an April book I need to finish by Tuesday so either way is totally fine with me.
I'll need to read a March for Turfs. I'm not sure about it. It may take me some time to get through it.

Not that that matters, this is probably the easiest task for me, I think everything I've read this year has been published this year or at the later end of last year.
Just a little FYI the answer to my question is no it needs to be published between today and a year ago today. I should be done with something by Saturday at the latest.

I don’t think we can use nonfiction for this challenge. But I did love his book!

Missed that bit in the rules 😞
Would have never have guessed that was a rule. Good to know, not that I read nonfiction much, but just in case.
