Bill reilly | 88 comments I have read eight of Egan's books and he is my favorite current writer. His NY Times column is also excellent. All of my fifty books read this year are true crime and A Fever in the Heartland is on my to-read list.

I have only read one previous one of his -- Breaking Blue -- but it was a real standout. Stephenson's story is so fascinating (and hideous) that I have sought out more reading on him. You can see them at the "Madge Oberholtzer" shelf.

Bill reilly | 88 comments I also gave Breaking Blue five stars and wrote a long review on Goodreads.
