This one came out 4/4/2023 and charts the rise and fall of D.C. Stephenson, the best kleagle the KKK ever had.

I have read eight of Egan's books and he is my favorite current writer. His NY Times column is also excellent. All of my fifty books read this year are true crime and A Fever in the Heartland is on my to-read list.

Stephenson's story is so fascinating (and hideous) that I have sought out more reading on him. You can see them at the "Madge Oberholtzer" shelf.
