We’ve probably all heard of the expression that «April showers bring May flowers» and whilst the weather may always be changeable year-on-year, you can be sure that there the saying is right about one thing. There are numerous flowers that bloom in May.

You may or may not realise it, but the fifth month of the year is the time when many of the world’s favourite blooms burst into life and share their beautiful colours and scents with us to remind us that summer is coming and winter is well and truly behind us.

Let’s take a look at some of them in more detail and complete these tasks:

Level 1: 1-5 flowers
Level 2: 6-10 flowers

1. Amaryllis
description
These beautiful South American blooms are a treat to enjoy in May. Sometimes known by the name the Belladonna Lily or the Easter Lily, they come in distinctive red, orange, pink and white shades and communicate pride.

2. Peonies
description
Peonies are favourites for weddings currently, which comes as no surprise as their bountiful buds burst beautifully with colour. In pinks, whites and even purples, these pastel coloured flowers are perfect to help you share some true May magic.
Read a book with a wedding OR a book with a colorful cover OR a book tagged "Magic".

3. Iris
description
This beautiful garden favourite, which is also the birth flower of February takes its name from the Greek word for Rainbow and is synonymous with wisdom and courage.
Read a book published in February of any year OR a book with the word "Rainbow" in the title OR a book with a brave character.

4. Lilacs
description
Sweet smelling lilacs are another flower to make their appearance during the month. Symbolising the essence of first love and confidence they can also grow up to 10 feet tall.
Read a book with a purple cover OR a romance book OR a book with a confident character (Your interpretation).

5. Magnolias
description
Magnolias are among the toughest flowers around, with the ability to withstand great cold and strong heat. Unsurprisingly for a May flower, their blooming is seen as natural symbol that spring has arrived.
Read a book set in a harsh weather OR a book with a pink and white cover OR a book set in spring

6. Heather
description
Heather is another hardy flower which is able to survive the cold winters of Northern Europe. In fact its It’s purple flowers carpeting the land is a welcome sight to behold and in traditional Celtic cultures it was often given to express admiration for someone special. Heather flowers mean good luck, protection, and affection.
Read a book set in Northern Europe OR a book with a purple cover OR a book where a character has a good luck.

7. Pansies
description
Pansies are bright, varied and happy flowers that carry lots of positive connotations of loving thoughts and thinking freely. In Victorian times they were a secret symbol given to express love covertly.
Read a book with a bright cover OR a book that brings you positive energy OR a book set in Victorian times.

8. Freesias
description
Freesias are a welcome arrival during May, coming in many shades of white, blue, pink, and yellow. These bright and colourful flowers are normally given to reflect innocence, trust and friendship.
Read a book with a white, blue, pink or yellow cover OR a book with an innocent character (Your interpretation) OR a book tagged "Friendship".

9. Anemone
description
The name of this flower means the ‘wind flower’. It comes from a family of over 120 sub species. The colors that you can find anemones in are white, blue, red, violet, etc.
Read a book with the word "Wind" in the title OR a book with 120 pages OR a book with the words white, blue, red or violet found in text.

10. Cherry Blossom
description
Cherry blossoms are a symbolic flower of the spring, a time of renewal, and the fleeting nature of life. Their life is very short. After their beauty peaks around two weeks, the blossoms start to fall. During this season in Japan, people like to have cherry blossom parties with colleagues, friends, and family.
Read a book set in Japan OR a short book (Under 150 pages) OR a book where characters have a party.

ناني ماكفي | 16 comments I love mognolias . I had three very beautifull but also very hard to take care of . unfortunately my magnolias died but still in love with that flower and the smell !!!! like a dream

ناني ماكفي | 16 comments consider me in guys. I choose magnolia's chalenge. I'm starting juan jose millas la mujer loca translated in arabic (my mother lg) as المرأة المهووسة.fortunately the cover in the arabic version has white and pink colours

I choosed Magnolia flower .the book of juan jose millas La mujer loca in its arabic version .fortunately the cover of the arabic version had the same colours like magnolia . I read the book on two phases . I had a very long reading slump only this two days I started to come back . I sarted it in may and just finished it .
Unfortunately it wasn't my cup of tea
