A young she-cat with odd eyes and odd coloring was curled beneath the branches of the ancient oak. Although she preferred the open sky, she had found that hunting mice and other rodents were much easier than chasing after hares even though it was much fun. Echo had her ears perked and her half ginger half black face gazed at her surroundings. She had left her sisters for awhile as she was getting sick of their presence in that moment.
Shadow was hiding in the ancient oak. He looked at the She-cat curiously figuring she was older than him. He carefully moved down sliding his claws into the wood.
Echo raised her head and lazily gazed up at Shadow. She tilted her head to the side and gazed at him curiously. "Hello." She meowed, her voice wasn't warm, but it also wasn't hostile to say the least.
"Hello there"Shadow jumped down easily and looked at her."I'm Shadow."he replied smiling laying in the dirt a few feet away from her.
"Echo." She replied as she gazed at him. She tilted her head slightly before shrugging and shaking out her pelt. She yawned and set her head back down. "Are you new around these parts, I've never seen you before?" She asked.
"I live in a two-leg den."Shadow nodded his head slightly."I just want to tell you that you have gorgeous eyes."Shadow told the she-cat slowly before getting up to leave her alone
Echo gazed at him and wasn't about to stop him from leaving. "Thank you, how old are you?" She then asked deciding to go against her instincts.
"15 moons.."Shadow stopped and looked back at her. He looked at her curiously watching her eyes.
Echo nodded slightly. "You aren't as young as I had expected." She replied and chuckled to herself. "To be honest I thought you were closer to my sisters' age." She then meowed and got to her paws.
Shadow sat down slowly and watched her."Should I feel insulted?"he asked her chuckling slightly his eyes staying on hers
"No it wasn't an insult, just me thinking out loud." She meowed in response and she smiled gently. It was a refreshing sight seeing that he was actually looking at her rather giving off the I'm listening but paying attention vibe.
Shadow nodded his eyes softening. He stretched slowly revealing muscles that don't normally belong to a pampered kitty pet." So tell me about yourself?" he purred gently and laid down smiling.
Echo watched him curiously. She wondered why a kittypet would have muscles and thus grew a bit cautious, well at least internally. "There's not much to tell." She replied
Shadow nodded and licked his paw carefully dragging it over his injured ear."I'm sorry if you find me strange." he looked into her eyes again.
"You're right I do find you strange. Why would a kittypet get into a fight?" She asked curiously. She then shook her pelt and stretched. "Oh never mind it's stupid." She replied.
"I went exploring and I had a huge tom jump me."Shadow looked at her slowly." My Grandfather Eagle also taught me how to fight and hunt." he told her gently as he smiled
Echo nodded in understanding. "I see, well that must've come in handy." She meowed in response and smiled gently.
"Well they're eight moons and the are only my half sisters." She replied softly "Their parents and our mother died when they were just kits, I took them in and protected them." She ten meowed and sighed. "They're great."
"I'm very sorry for your loss."Shadow nuzzled her cheek gently in a friendly manner." If you ever need anything you can come to me." he told her gently.
Echo gazed at him and her eyes softened a touch. "Thank you." She meowed before stretching. "So tell me about yourself." She then meowed. She wasn't use to this Nic attention and tried to divert it elsewhere.
Shadow nodded his head gently." I am a kittypet and so are my parents and grandparents." He looked at his paws." I was ambushed a few days ago by a rogue and decided I wanted to become stronger in case that happens again."Shadow's eyes flashed at the mentioning of being strong.
Echo listened and her eyes narrowed a touch as she listened to him talk about becoming stronger. "Power isn't everything, you need wisdom with it also." She meowed in return. She then got to her paws opened her jaws and flicked her ears. "Strength doesn't win every battle." She then added.
"True.. But at least if I do become stronger I will be able to protect my loved ones better. They are all I have to fight for and I love them." Shadow spoke softly and as he pushed a stone around with his paw.
"That would be nice." Echo replied and sighed softly. She gazed up at Shadow and smiled gently before padding off. She slipped into a bush and after a couple moments she came back with a fat squirrel in her jaws. "Hungry?" She asked. She knew she was hungry hence why she caught it, but it was large enough to fill both of them.
